Hi Snap,
I forgot to mention in my previous post that this "nobootwait" option won't work in VSIDO or anyother Debian based distro by default as the Debian package-maintainers (util-linux team) for the package "mount" are not interested in implementing this. Ubuntu and a few other distros include the patch that enables the "nobootwait" option.

Honestly I don't know! Simplest way to determine if the "mount" installed on your sysem has "nobootwait" option is to run,
man fstab
And look for the following line,
Quote...``nobootwait'' which can be applied to...
I think Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04, 15.10 have this but 16.04 doesn't.
