Fluxbox Problem

Gordon

Hi all

Been trying to alter the fluxbox dropdown menu but without any luck.
The fluxbox editor tells you to lock in

/usr/share/menu/default

but default isn't there
also look in

/usr/share/doc/menu/html

but menu/html isn't there either. Where do I go from here Please ?
Cheers :D

Are you speaking the the menu when you right click on the desktop?  The fluxbox menu? It can be edited directly from the file /home/yourusername/.fluxbox/menu or you can access the the editor with a right click on Desktop/Fluxbox/Fluxbox Menu Editor

Hi VastOne,

Sorry but yes I am referring to the dropdown menu when you right click. I have just opened ~./fluxbox/menu  nad get this at the top

# This is an automatically generated file.
# Please see <file:/usr/share/doc/menu/README> for information.
# to use your own menu, copy this to ~/.fluxbox/menu, then edit
# ~/.fluxbox/init and change the session.menuFile path to ~/.fluxbox/menu

and if I look in the ~./fluxbox/init I find that the session.menuFile is already set to ~./fluxbox/menu

session.menuFile: ~/.fluxbox/menu

so I am completely baffled as to what I am supposed to do.

I basically get the same message when I use the menu editor
Cheers :D

Thats just a standard message at the top of the file from when it was first created

You just have to study that file and learn it and you will understand how it works... Just remember that when you make an edit you may have to restart fluxbox (from a right click on the menu) to see the changes

If you tell me what it is you are wanting to do I can assist you

Glad to have helped Gordon...  :)

You will see how easy that menu language is and in no time you will have it just your way

I think you will also see it is even easier than OpenBox
