Thanks Luke!
Nothing wrong with not trying to reinvent the wheel.
I use lots of different scripts, plug-ins and brushes...
Makes things more fun playing with different combinations.  ;D

Now I will say, I dont ALWAYS use it.... but at 3am it just makes things so much easier  ;D
I figure if it works and I get the outcome that I want then Im ok with it.

Thanks buddy. Im cheating and using a script I found on gimpscripts.com  ;)

AHA!  Now I know ... cheating's good ... sometimes in Lnuxlandia it's called Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V or .sh or .py  :D

Not custom - found it on the net

The view's not that bad you just have to punch the knothole out.

I dedicate that one to all users of Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V.

One place asked for my CV in an email, I said I'd Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V it immediately?  ::)
{groan}

But with that site and scripts maybe, just maybe I can do something worthwhile for this thread.

Great work guys! Here's my first contribution here - the image is 95% Blender, 5% GIMP but the time spent was about 99.999% Blender ;) (PS What's the max acceptable size for thumbnails here?)

@falldown - love your image :) (You tried 2.9 yet?)

Did I mention how much I love gimp?

This is my first attempt at 3d text rendering with non-3d software (gimp)
Its gotta neon Tokyo vibe to it.

Excellent work damo!  I really like that creation!

The size you just posted is perfect... There is no limits now as most of us keep the image sizes at just about the same size you used

Hum 2.9 I'll definitely be checking that out.

I posted a HowTo for installing GIMP 2.9 over on Crunchbang (Apologies if you know this stuff already, but it is an Advanced topic for me!)

Thanks damo!!
I have toyed with 2.9 a little, but keep having some issues with it closing out if scroll too fast through my fonts. I think I just need to recompile it.. until then 2.8 will keep me company.

damo

I find it buggy and often very slow - gegl not properly integrated I suppose. I'm only using it for .exr and 32bit - necessary for the smooth mesh displacement in the blender render above - but 2.8 is staying until 2.10 is eventually out
