Interesting bit of info..

Perhaps I am just behind the curve here,
But did you know that...
Aptitude will automatically remove any unneeded packages the next time you run it but apt-get and synaptic do not.
Aptitude does 'autoremove' automatically.   ...?

I did not know that apt-get and aptitude functioned differently.  :)

I use to use aptitude exclusively, years ago.  Been with apt-get for a few years now.
One thing I like about aptitude is: it's a terminal app as well.
Just type aptitude in the terminal

Aptitude is by far a superior app than apt...

Aptitude can hold, locate and manage packages in a cleaner way

The real strength of aptitude is seen when apt breaks and aptitude fixes it... I have seen this too many times to count

Aptitude will automatically remove any unneeded packages only if the program or file was installed with Aptitude. It will not work if installed with apt-get then used aptitude to remove.
