Oh my ... the KDE edition, wow!

@Sector11, that is an incredible setup with the wall and panels.. very nice

@jedi, When I have to run Widows in a VSIDO VM, I am amazed at how fast it is.. Can the same be said in your reverse setup?  Nice BTW!

Thanks VastOne - that desktop screamed conky the minute I saw it, even the centre image is a conky that can be changed at the whim of cut/past.

Not finished though, needs to be centred better and I need to do something in that area at the botton centre just above tint2.

Any ideas welcome.

Dumb question and off topic, but how much RAM would one need to run WIN in a VM.

I see people talking 32GB systems, can Linux use all that?  Someplace I read it had an 8GB limit.

As far as I know there is no longer any memory limitations. Ive got 16 on this machine and its all seen  :)

As far as running Win in a VM, if you ran XP you could get away with as little as like 512mb but Id recommend 1gb-1.5gb minimum and if running Win7 you would need just a bit more, I usually designate 2.5gb on a Win7 VM and it runs just fine.

@ VastOne....

I thought youd like that  ;D
And in my defense it was Jeds idea, he said you needed a little KDE in yor life..... btw now I have to reinstall to get rid
of the 2gb of BS being used by KDE.... but yes it was worth it

^in your defense?  I disavow any knowledge of this!  (btw, what is KDE exactly?)

@VastOne, if I had to guess, I'd say it gets to the login screen in around five seconds flat!!  Yes it is screaming fast in a VM.  I've been amazed.  Setup with 2 processors, and 2Gb or Ram, with the Vram set to 256Mb.  I also have the VirtualBox additions installed so I can take advantage of the full size of my screen.  In "Storage", I have it set to emulate an SSD drive...

@Sector11, I'm pretty sure the 8Gb memory limitation is myth at this point.  Before the death of the new laptop, it was seeing all 32Gb of the RAM!  Seeing it though is different that 'using' it, and the most I ever got it to 'use', was about 4 and a half GB by running multiple VM's, and doing things like running Iceweasel with 30+ Tabs open... (along with all the other Apps running I could think of to consume the RAM.  I've found that VSIDO makes very efficient use of RAM!)
