Hey folks. I'm having no luck with tabbed windows. When I have a few windows open and change fluxbox init to

Code: [Select]
session.screen0.defaultDeco:    TAB
I can tab windows as expected, but if I open a new one the titlebar goes all wrong. Minimal and all buttons gone. No way to tab or anything else. Check the pic below. On top a "post" window (check the tiny tittlebar at the top left). At the bottom "pre-opened" windows tabbed and displaying right. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Oh boy... forget it. It's been a while since I don't use Fluxbox. Second day on Vsido (fisrt time ever) and fluxbox (Elder V LaCoste's work is the culprit once again).

I just found that tabs are enabled by default lately. What I was doing was borking the defaults...  :P

Well, one more question. when tabbing xfce4-terminal it looses the transparency. I use to type commands copying/looking throw the terminal windows to the one below, so I'd like to keep the transparency if possible. Any tips?

And to not to be fully OT (this is a styles thread) are Elder's styles shared anywhere aside of blanco tormenta and negra tormenta? Thanks.

the terminal should still be transparent; with tabbing, when one terminal (window) is active, fluxbox doesn't view the other windows in the group as being behind/under the active window - more like they are shaded/iconified so you don't see their contents. You would need some 3rd-party app to do what you're after. If xfce4-terminal is tabbed by default, you can temporarily remove one from the group to see the underlying terminal. The default key binding for that is Ctrl-Mouse2 on the tab. Ctrl-Mouse1 on tab and drag them back together.

I think Elder V. maintains a deviantArt page for his fluxbox styles; some over at #! in the fluxbox thread as well.

Because with defaultDeco TAB all you see is the TAB - no titlebar, window buttons or border.

What are you trying to accomplish? If I'm understanding you correctly, I think what you want to do is going to the Fluxbox configuration part of the VSIDO menu and set the "Tabs in Titlebar" option. Then with a NORMAL decor, your tabbed window groups will retain the window buttons and you won't have that little tab hanging out.

^ It's only I didn't knew that tabs are now enabled by default. I was trying to enable them... Lesson learned.

Regarding the terminal transparency when I make the window a tab the background turns solid black. I'll give it a go tomorrow. Too tired. Time for bed.

Not sure what's going on there. My xfce terminals remain transparent, but I only see the wallpaper; can't see the other terminal because transparency in fluxbox does not work that way (that I'm aware of). Same with sakura terminal and rxvt-unicode.

What's your terminal opacity set at?

@vastone - you're too kind.

Really? I can see through it whatever its underneath and copy/type commands if un-tabbed. but when tabbed into another window the background turns solid black. The transparency setting within xfce4-terminal remains unchanged but it stops being transparent.

PS, Now that's interesting. If I drop an xfce term window into another, let's say SpaceFM, the backgrond goes solid. But if I do it the other way around, tabbing the other windows into a previous xfce term window the transparency in it remains unaltered and I can see through to read and type commands. This solves my issues. I only need to remember that the terminal must be the "main" window to tab things into it.

With compton running, the untabbed terminals have true transparency and I see the underlying terminal or other app. Once tabbed, the terminals are still transparent, but I only see the wallpaper. Neither xfce4-terminal, sakura, or rxvt-unicode go opaque when tabbed.

Edit - unless I tab xfce4-teminal with another app like medit or thunar; then I get the same response you do. It will remain transparent if it is "host", but goes opaque when it's the "client".

I was thinking your terminal opacities were combining/adding together for reasons unknown. Looks like something else going on - a form of hierarchy (sort of). No idea if there is some setting that can be tweaked to get you where you want to go.

Not sure If I have compton enabled, I'll have to check it. But I think I haven't seen it in included in autostart. I'm not in Vsido right now. I'll check it tomorrow.

It is there by default in VSIDO, so it would be unless you disabled it

Anyone still having these styles in his stash? Downloads not working anymore. I'd love to have them around.

Went through it. No luck. I really likes Sunna. A shame it's gone.  ::)

Regarding Orange Days that would be a great fit for certain orangy/brownish wallpapers sets I have around I frequently use... Well, I'll try go get somewhat there customizing the original GTK and Fluxbox themes.

Ported an openbox theme to fluxbox. The original openbox theme was created by #! user fog and can be downloaded here - with matching gtk2, gtk3.
