Libre Office 4.0

merelyjim

Okay... I'm going to download and try the new Libre Office 4.0.
I don't' exactly know how (or why I need it) but if you're running Debian Sid, you might as well get the benefits of running bleeding-edge.
Any ideas before I go all "mad scientist" in an hour or two?

I can grab it and check it out at the same time and compare notes...!

BTW, it is in Debian Experimental... which is in your sources..

I will install it that way and let you know how it goes

Maybe a stupid question (Im not on a sid right now) but isnt that the version that is installed by default with

get libreoffice ?

Or was that still 3.6?

If 4.0 is the default then it is fantastic. I use it everyday without any issues at all

To install it in VSIDO (from Debian Experimental) do this:

sudo apt-get -t experimental install libreoffice

Scratch that

@VastOne
Thanks for the post I was thinking about trying it to see if it would open and edit MS Publisher files.
That's the only thing keeping me from going 100% Linux.

^ Thanks!
I've bookmarked the links and will keep an eye on them.
People ask me why I don't like M$ so much.
I tell them, "Besides it being a resource hog."
And don't bitch at me when I charge you to upgrade your sh!t to Windoze 9!  :D

  You're welcome.

^ Well as you can see Gimp and I kind of have grown quite an acquaintance for each other.
However I help with a newsletter for some folks that kind of depend on me (publisher files) and they would be lost without M$.
Poor souls.  :'(

[Edit] To add;
That's the only reason I have booted to my Windoze partition in the last several months and I almost cringe when I do that.  :D
