will vsido install on existing lvm

hinto

I have a pc that came with lvm (formerly a RHEL pc).  I should have taken the time to re-partition, but I didn't.  Will vsido install on an existing LVM scheme?
Thanks

Part of the install includes partitioning your drive with GParted.
You will be asked to select a root , /home and swap partition.
(swap is required).

I hope that helps.

EDIT: Hinto it should install just fine with LVM partitioning as long as you have a swap partition.

^ only if vsido recognizes lvm by default.  Typically RedHat, Debian (and siduction) installers do, but not Ubuntu/Mint.
I'll spin it up and see.

Hinto Logical is part of the extended partitioning.. Correct?

One of my VSIDO installs is like so

sdb4: Extended
         sdb6 /
         sdb7 SWAP
         sdb8 /home

OK.. LVM is nothing like I thought it was.  ::)
So I have no clue in this area.

Thank for sharing the link.

Hi Hinto - Wecome to VSIDO!

Based on this:  "Typically RedHat, Debian (and siduction) installers do"

There is a chance that it would, VSIDO is using a Debian Installer.

No guarantees, you're the first that I know of using LVM.

Maybe this: Debian root on RAID + LVM.

Good luck

I doubt that it will work in a LVM settings, there is nothing in the installer looking for LVM

The reason why debian works is because of partman, which is what I hope to use in future versions of VSIDO

hey hinto

don't know if its too late
but
installer doesn't see lvm

but if you set up in fstab after it'll work
i cant remember if lvm2 was there or i installed it

vast could probably help with that

before or after the install?
What should I expect if say, I boot the liveCD, install lvm (in the session) then start the install process?
Hosed on reboot?

i believe i installed lvm from live
then ran installer
then stayed in live
chrooted and installed lvm again
then restarted
