^ Nice. Is that weather app a KDE-only thing?

Thanks, and yes, a 'desktop widget'.

^ Just in time; borked my vsido install trying to get nvidia drivers installed. It use to be so easy to get that done; now .... not so much.

Tinkering around, Xfce4 with bspwm as the window manager. True tiling with xfce4 session and desktop management:

xfce4 still handles the key bindings which is nice (and a bit of a surprise). Entering the bspwm window commands in xfce4 was a bit tedious, but so far worth it. Pretty smooth operations so far. Need to do something with the taskbar. Like most tilers bspwm doesn't support "iconify" (spectrwm is the only one that does as far as I know) so the iconbar is kind of pointless.

Couple more of bspwm - with tint2 this time:

Actually posted as a question about xdotool. The one screenshot shows the man page for xdotool; it can be used to minimize a window, but I can't get the syntax right. I suspect that it needs to be in a script with the getwindowfocus option. Has anyone used xdotool in a script that way?

Edit - found what I was looking for in hackerdefo's poor man's screenshot script -

    PMSS_PID=$(xdotool getactivewindow)
    xdotool windowminimize "$PMSS_PID"

Should be able to work with that.

Work in progress. Going for a new[ish] aesthetic. Mostly to tinker with some of the newer tint2 configuration options, mainly color gradients:

fluxbox + tint2 (taskbar, systemtray, battery monitor, clock)

and no more conky - going cold turkey and shutting it down  8)

Thanks.

I started cutting back on conky - mainly dumping the cpu temps - and getting just the basics to avoid writing a script for date, time, etc ... About half-way through, realized I wasn't missing it. So adios conky.
