Downloaded the iso -

The menus look good, but still having the same issues with /home and swap partitions not mounting on the initial reboot, and a restart. Got the dreaded 1 min 30 sec wait for some process running. The / partition mounts, but an fstab didn't get created. Tried the old installer, same issues.

Wiped the drives, and installed SalixOS - no issues, so I don't think it's (entirely) a hardware issue on my end.

If I have time tomorrow, maybe install Debian Stable to see if maybe there is a Debian Sid issue.

Tried to install Trios since it's pretty much the same installer; failed at the partitioning step. Something in my hardware seems to be incompatible with that installer.

I did update the ISO's today... there was a security update to the kernel

Oddly enough, the dates and code numbers of the kernel release stayed the same.. 4.7.6-1 (2016-10-07)

Never seen that before

Good to hear the theme issue is solved. It all pointed to the theme, but the file permissions never crossed my mind.
Downloading iso now. It  is going slow with FF, like 8+ hours to download.  :'(
Ah wait, with aria2 and 5 connections it takes 10 minutes. Much better :D

I will try to squeeze the install on an old desktop. I'll probably need plop boot to even start.
I'll see how it goes.
