Edit your ~/.fluxbox/startup file to start fbpanel instead of tint2.

There are two instances of tint2 started - the panel at the bottom of the screen, the system tray in the upper right.

Tint2 has nothing to do with openbox except that it works in it just as it works in FluxBox and just about any distro out there

There are basics to know about apt-get and installing / removing apps and where they start from... you can man just about any app and get these types of information and google is a good friend

Because in my opinion fbpanel is worthless and tint2 as a script app is just as powerful as any of the commercial type panels and apps when it is setup correctly and you know how to use it

I am pretty sure I have and had tested them all before settling on tint2 as the default in VSIDO

Of course you can use whatever you want, but the VSIDO default is and will remain tint2

but it was created for openbox, almost all openbox distro use tint2.
as lxterminal for lxde.
I say this because I want a debian fluxbox and I do not know if I should install the netinstall and fluxbox or vsido and remove tint2

Netinstall with fluxbox...

You are aware that OpenBox was loosely based on FluxBox which was based on BlackBox.

Today is the first I have ever heard that tint2 was made for OpenBox and I have been using tint2 for 6-7 years...

ArchWiki explains it perfectly .... 'A system panel/taskbar for Linux'

*box

This is a series of three window managers. BlackBox is the original, Openbox and Fluxbox are forks.

BlackBox is comparable to JWM, and loads in about 3MB of memory.

Openbox is rarely used stand-alone, it is however the window manager of choice in a number of other desktop environments such as Gnome, KDE and LXDE. It runs in about 7MB of memory. CrunchBang is and example of distribution based on Openbox.

tint2 is a simple panel/taskbar made for modern X window managers. It was specifically made for Openbox but it should also work with other window managers (GNOME, KDE, XFCE etc.). It is based on ttm http://code.google.com/p/ttm/.

Code: [Select]
This is a series of three window managers. BlackBox is the original, Openbox and Fluxbox are forks.
and speaking of forks, development of fbpanel stopped around 2010; LXPanel was forked from fbpanel to provide a modern, up to date panel for LXDE. That will be the one you want to run with fluxbox. All the plugins for the panel will work.
