General Support / KiCad [ SOLVED ]
May 01, 2020, 03:38:22 PM
Hi folks.
Once again I am in need of your valuable time and efforts. I have downloaded KiCad for the second time and still can't get it to work. I have been on the official site and asked for assistance there but the only reply was from someone using windows not that helpful and I didn't really understand what he meant. OK the problem, when trying to place a symbol on the schematic no library of components appear although they are all in usr/share/kicad/library. The other person said that I have to have them in the schematic that I am creating which seem crazy to me as they seem to be in a global area already.
Any help please and if they have to be placed in the schematic where and how do I get them there  :)
Cheers
Just realized posted in the wrong section I think. Please move mods thanks

VSIDO Discussions / An Idea
July 18, 2019, 07:48:44 AM
Hi VastOne

Just an idea and I have no idea if it is possible to do it.

Once you have done the download and installation would it be possile to add Ceni to the begining of the extra install thing that you have to make sure that you have an internet connection as for some reason or other it never connected during install, worked of the live disk though.

One of the problems that I had and manage to cure after a lot of misshaps was to run Ceni from root terminal to get the internet connection, before running the extra insall thing, trying to run ceni from fluxbox all I kept getting was  " couldn't run child process " , and no idea why that was either.

Hope this makes sense  :D

Hi PackRat

Well I have been trying for ages now to alter my screen resolution with no success at all.

I have tried xrandr and its variations all with no luck.

I have been copying and pasting instruction from the web and nothing seem to work and I don't understand the help screen on xrandr. I either get bad intruction or not found.

Sorry forgot to answer your question C-A-F1, it is bruce login

I have been going through loads of folder / files using root spacefm and not managed to find where the file is that sets the resolution but there must be one somewhere, any ideas.

I am getting totally cheesed of with the box running around the screen and am thinking of moving to another version linux at the moment. which I don't really want to do.

Hi Each

I don't know if this is the same thing but I have just reinstalled VSIDO yet again. To get on the internet I logged into root terminal and entered Ceni and change the settings in there. It worked though unusual for me.

When i tried to run it through fluxbox all I kept getting was couldn't run child process or something on them lines

General Support / initramfs [ FIXED BY REINSTALL ]
June 29, 2019, 10:01:18 AM
Hi folks.

I tried to install glabels yesterday evening and again this morning ( just now ) and got an error

E: /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/live failed with return 1.
update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-4.19.0-4-amd64 with 1.
dpkg: error processing package initramfs-tools (--configure):
installed initramfs-tools package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:

How do I get out of this one please. Can I reinstall it. overwrite it, purge it or what?
asking first instead of totally screwing everything up.

Cheers

Hi PackRat.

well I tried the link you sent and followed the instruction via copy / paste and ended up with an error code 1 no idea what that is.

when I use ctl+alt+F1 it shuts my screen down and ask for login and password of which I have two and of which it will accept neither.

if i go in via root terminal using smxi it  starts out ok then ewnds up at the same place as if i started  with ctl alt F1 and I have no idea as to why

I have enough for today so I will try again tomorrow. cheers
