Hi Vastone and PackRat

I can't remember when Libreoffice started to go wrong but as far as I am aware the owner of everything has always been ROOT

As far as listbugs goes I have no idea how you hold a bug package back from install and install the rest.

General Support / A couple of Questions
October 12, 2013, 08:42:39 AM
Hi All

A couple of queries

1, Why is it that when you do an dist-upgrade and it say there are a few critical bugs and do you want to continue, if you say no it upgrades nothing at all and if you say yes it seem to upgrade everything including the critical bugs. Why isn't there an option to upgrade everything else except the ones with bugs in. I always continue regardless with my fingers crossed as I have no idea as to what the buggy things do anyway. So far I have been lucky :-)

2. I seem to have done something to libreoffice and have no idea what. If i used spacefm as root and open a document with libreoffice from that it work OK yet if I run libreoffice and then try to open a document it say permission denied. I have changed all Docs etc using chmod 777 to do everything as far as i know but they still don't work, any ideas as to why please

Mods. I hope these are in the right place but if not sorry and please shift them around  :D

Hi All,

I have the above printer and am having a lot of trouble trying to get VSIDO to see it. I have tried searching but am unable to find an answer. I had this problem on Crunchbang but it was sorted out by using

apt-get install -y cb-meta-printer-support

unfortunately it did not work here
Help required please

Hi All,

Sorry about the long delay in posting but have been away for a few days.

/dev/sdc1     /home/gordon/images  does in fact point directly to my pictures. I was trying to get fstab to open a folder which of course it can't do. Sorry if I caused anyone a big headache but I wasn't thinking straight myself. Apologizes to one and all and thanks to one and all for getting involved in my query

Hi

Ok I thought I had got is sorted out but I was wrong. I have it as far as VSIDO seeing the other drives but  can't get it to point to the required place
I have tried various combinations to the code below with no luck, can anyone point me down the right direction please ? AS you can probably guess I am trying to point sdc1/Pics to the images folder

/dev/sdc1/Pics     /home/gordon/images   ext4 noatime  0 0

Thanks for any help offered, all is welcome

Hi VastOne,

Thanks for that. Everything in the garden is rosy now all back working OK. Been trying out Fluxbox but am having trouble understanding how to alter the menu at the moment, luckily for me it has a default that it returns to when you get it wrong for me every time at the moment but I will get there in the end

Cheers for now and keep up the most excellent work that you do for us all  :)

Hi VastOne

Well Got there in the end and it is working OK. I've got version 2 but I think I was trying for the experimental version in the first place. Don't know if they are the same or not. Installing it has caused me a problem though, I now have to find out how to update the grub on crunchband which is using LVM and this doesn't seem to pick it up.Something else for me to have a go at :-)

VSIDO Discussions / Re: New Direction thoughts
September 15, 2013, 09:51:27 AM
Hi VastOne

Just dropped in to add my thoughts. Really it's just say please don't drop openbox, off all of them that I have seen and used I find openbox the easiest to use. I have just downloaded your test ISO only to realize that is 64bit and I'm on 32 still never mind I can wait  :D

Hi  VastOne

Thanks for the reply and info, Didn't think about that new to me just used it and it seemed to work OK but have deleted a user and screwed VSIDO up again so will have to try and sort that out now. In the first place I installed  some new ram to increase it but it was faulty and did something to my hard drive and total messed it up. Don't know what or how but spent days trying to sort it out but gave up in the end a bought new drives and started from scratch, so install XP first then VSIDO and then CRUNCHBANG using LVM. Got them all installed and #! seeing all my drives and was trying to sort out  VSIDO but have messed it up for the moment so will have to start again as usual  ;D
