Thanks. I made the changes you said and it didn't do any good. Still had a log-in. On line  111 shows
autologin-user=

autologin-user=Al
I put my name in and it worked. Thanks

General Support / Lost top Gnome2 menu
May 29, 2013, 01:48:07 PM
I did a update yesterday and I lost my top Gnome2 menu. The only way I can shut the system down is ctrl alt delete. How can I logout in the terminal to get to the login screen? I have it set to auto login.  Later when I have time I am going to look in the add remove software to see if I can re-install the menu manager or re-install all of gnome2. I know if I press Alt F2 I get Run option, but, there is no log out option. Thanks, gotta go to bed.Maybe I should give up on Gnome and start using Xfce.

Aptitude will automatically remove any unneeded packages only if the program or file was installed with Aptitude. It will not work if installed with apt-get then used aptitude to remove.

This is what I found out. I followed Iwfitz's instructions and everything installed ok. In the menu list it shows firefox title with Icewasel icon. Start Firefox it looks the exactly the same as icewasel. The only difference is at the very top it says Firefox in the header. With that being said, I am at a crossroad. I could try to uninstall both and try to install firefox alone, or, is there any real problem with leaving  NoScript allowed all the time?

These issues with Iceweasel are not NoScript/Adblock or any other plugin related are they?

Can you post some of the links you are having issues with so I can test them?

I have been running iceweasel and have been running into some web site problems such as java not enabled. I look in the preferences and it is enabled. I have tried a few times to get firefox 21.0 working and I just cannot seem to get it to work. Can anyone tell me how to get the latest Firefox into the Software Sources so I can install it in the terminal? Thanks

I've given you my 2 cents before S11, but who hasn't.
I got Gnome2 working great, but I am going to play around with xfce also.
