Should be approx 10x faster now also  8)

Going to fast.com gives me 970, so we're good, will set up a user for you later, but I'm getting hammered by bots on port 22, so I'll change that to something stupid like 22960 or whatever :)

Bots are so stupid and annoying :)

And, you're welcome!

With loss of hair, sanity (sorry just kidding), marbles (they keep getting away!) I got my internal network back up

1. Took down my ML150 G3 (If anyone want, I'm selling or trading it), albeit a 35+ KG behemoth
2. Installed pfsense on my tiny HP DC 7800 (Q6600, 8Gb ram. Dual Intel nics)
3. Did a lot of Firewall and NAT fuckamagicwhatsmacallit (Send help, sitting in a corner rocking back and forth)
4. Webserver now runs on my old HP XW6600 (Also 2 x Xeon, 32Gb ram, 4.5 Tb HDD) Enough for a few ISO? :P
6. Webserver now run 1000/1000mbit vs 100/100mbit before
7. Profit

As always: Love to help, love being here, love you all!

Go hug someone, hugs are nice!

Hello hippies!

Just a heads-up

Will take down the server (and webserver) in a few minutes. (and replace it with something QUIET)

1. a 60lbs server goes out and (HP ML150 G3) Look it up!
2. a 1-2lbs server goes in (HP DC7800 SFF running pfsense)

Did I mention the ML150 was LOUD

Very cool!

At the moment there is 13GB of 2TB in use. Should leave room for a "few" .fsa's  8)

VSIDO Discussions / Heyyy, you come here often?
November 05, 2022, 09:41:00 PM
I mean granted I have been away for a bit of time, in time (my TARDIS got stuck or something!)

But seriously, we are many, and I only talk to two people, so... Where the heck is the rest of you hiding? Got a beer stash or something? If that's the case, can I come over?

No, what I mean is, come hang out with us on IRC, and let's have some fun, while also being serious (happen not so often, but shhh)

Anyway, tag you are it! (come tag me back on IRC!)

Hi!
This Lenovo T430 was a bit challenging to get 'vsidofied', so I'll share the issues I ran into and what I did to fix them.

1. Install VSIDO pr this guide https://vsido.org/index.php?topic=1465.0
2. Boot into VSIDO seemed normal, but I needed iwlwifi for my wireless to work, so I installed the needed tools and firmware needed pr this Debian guide https://wiki.debian.org/WiFi

Simple, right? No not really. After a reboot I was presented with a blank screen. And CTRL+ALT+F1 was a no go.

The Fixtm

1. SSH into the laptop using a wired connection
2. run smxi as root, let it's do it's thing, update if necessary. When presented to the graphics menu, pick Intel graphics, a different xorg will be suggested, accept it, and when asked to create a xorg.conf, allow it to do so
2a. For some odd reason a xorg-intel binary is a thing. If your laptop have a nv card, stop reading this, and just smile at this

3. Reboot, and once more SSH into the laptop and run sgfxi (more stuff to download yay!)
4. Reboot for the last time
5. You are now ready to connect with wifi (nmcli, nmtui, pick your poison)

Note: Do note that using this "walk through" there might and most likely will be a few xorg.conf files in /etx/X11. Delete the crud ones and keep the newest one only

And the famous pic or it didn't happen

Finally got my laptop running vsido (was a bit of a tango, VastOne knows!)
Wasn't straight forward, so will do a writeup/howto on the forum, but for now... Screenshot!

VSIDO Discussions / Re: Kernel updates

Tried to look up what I said (so you can use it against me  :P )
All I can find is some Ubuntu crud called livepatch. I just remember that Arch had something back in the days, But I digress. If Ubuntu can do it, I am sure we can adopt that to vsido too  8)

Compton is always fun!

Heres my one-liner I use in i3 :D

compton -c -r 20 -l -30 -t -30 -f -z --blur-background-frame--blur-kern '5,5,0.676634,0.783377,0.822578,0.783377,0.676634,0.783377,0.906961,0.952345,0.906961,0.783377,0.822578,0.952345,0.52345,0.822578,0.783377,0.906961,0.952345,0.906961,0.783377,0.676634,0.783377,0.822578,0.783377,0.676634,' --vsync opengl --dbe --glx-no-stencil -D 3 -b
