General Support / ET-2750 series printer / scanner
« on: November 19, 2020, 01:05:55 PM »
Hi Folks

I have been trying for some time to install the scanner part of the above printer series.
I have downloaded and tried to install the drivers that Epson  list and have had no success at all so far. As far as I am aware the drivers have been installed, well according to gdebi, but sane xsane say that they can't locate the scanner, not detected, and I have no idea where to go from here. I have run sane-find-scanner and that came up with libusb:001:002 but it is not certain that is correct or something like that. Running xsane in root terminal i get
Code: [Select]
Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "adwaita"
I have no idea what else there is that I can try help required please.  :(

Hi Folks

Me again.

Since I updated to the latest kernel for some reason or other of which I have no idea the Fluxbox menu Editor is not working. All the items that were previously in there are still working. I have tried restart and reload fluxbox but with no success. I have been looking around but can't find out where it is or how to correct it  :( help needed please  :)

General Support / Way over my head
« on: July 02, 2020, 02:22:49 PM »
Hi folks
Its all way above me this. I had broken symlink files which i have after reading loads deleted them all. That leaves me with thousands of " missing-copyright-files ". I have spent ages reading pages of stuff on the net but can't find anywhere that tells me how to reinstall them, at least nothing that i understand, so would appreciate some help / advice on what i should do about them. This all stems from trying to install my all in one ET-2750 scanner driver. ( still not installed ) the printer itself is working. I also have loads of "  undefined-symbol " errors and loads of other stuff too. I guess the only thing to do is a complete reinstall

Hi PackRat

Thanks for that.
It created a 38 page doc so all I have to do now is figure out how to correct broken symlinks and all the others now.
Good fun what   :D :D

General Support / adequate

Hi Folks

Well I installed adequate the other day as i found out the it told you about problems on your PC, Which it did. It told me that were were over 2400 errors / problems
but they scrolled past so fast that i could read them and i have no idea where it has stored them, I assumed that it does keep them somewhere, and i can't find the file / folder.
I did notice that it said there were broken file / symlinks which I need to fix but I can't get it to list just the broken files. I did try " adequate --all -deconf " but that didn't have them in it either.
so again I have no idea what to do and although I looked on debian site all I could find was a list of the things if checked. looking through the code I did see the list that it runs. Can I just hash out the ones that i don't want at the moment or will that cause havoc

Hi Folks

back again trying to fix find broken held packages.
so far I have tried

dpkg --get- selection | grep hold and it returns nothing
apt-get --fix-missing update which told me there were 9 upgradable items which I have done. yet when I run ./install.sh it still keeps telling me that

Code: [Select]
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 libgcc1 : Depends: gcc-10-base (= 10.1.0-1) but 10.1.0-4 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

is there anything else that i can do as i have repeatedly tried the above commands

Edit

Since correcting my sources.list the error message has changed to

Code: [Select]
Package libboost-program-options1.67.0 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'libboost-filesystem1.67.0' has no installation candidate
E: Package 'libboost-program-options1.67.0' has no installation candidate
E: Package 'libboost-system1.67.0' has no installation candidate

Forgot I have also used apt-get update --fix-missing , apt-get install -f, dpkg --configure -a

General Support / Re: A Couple of Problems
« on: June 22, 2020, 10:14:15 PM »
Hi PackRat.
Did an upgrade using smxi like i normally do earlier today. I don't know if that is the best way though.
I only downloaded synaptic to see if there was a driver for the printer that I just bought, and there was. I was trying to do it via Epson but i kept getting the problem that I mentioned before and still get while trying to install the scanner driver.
Anyway thanks for the reply time and effort you keep giving me. I'll check out the link tomorrow  and see if I can work it out. Cheers for now  :)

General Support / A Couple of Problems
« on: June 22, 2020, 06:28:17 PM »
Hi Folks
A couple of new problems that have me baffled ( no surprise there  :-[ )
1 i've downloaded synaptic and can only run it from the command line and I keep getting this warning

Code: [Select]
synaptic:11621): Gtk-WARNING **: 19:01:39.936: Theme parsing error: gtk.css:4348:56: Using one color stop with linear-gradient() is deprecated

and the other one is to do with synaptic itself.
I am trying to install an Epson package to run the scanner and I keep getting
Code: [Select]
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 libgcc1 : Depends: gcc-10-base (= 10.1.0-1) but 10.1.0-4 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

and when I go onto synaptic to fix broken packages it doesn't seem to do anything and i can't work out which packages are broken. how do i find and fix broken packages
Where do I go from here please

Hi PackRat
It seems that lsb-base is already installed and is the latest version.
I have been looking on Debian Forum page and it seems that I need to install some sort of irc client, no idea what that is, so which one is used by VSIDO and i will try and install that.
In the mean time I will try and join the Debian Forum again assuming I can get past the confirmation jumble at the end.  ;D

Edit
it seems that I might need to load " libpng12 " which is in jessie but doesn't appear to be in sid. have to work on that now.
