The following steps will show you how I did this.




1. If you don't already have, download and install either Google Chrome or
Chromium. Doesn't matter which one. We need the PPAPI (Pepper) Flash player.
Then run the program at least one time.

2. Next we need Rinat Ibragimov's wrapper.

Download the deb file you need.

3. Then using your favorite deb installer. I use Gdebi, there should be 2 other
files it will need to satisfy dependencies.

4. Now open your Mozilla browser and test your installation. I assume this works on most Mozilla
based browsers.


I've tested it on Firefox, Nightly, Iceweasel, and Icecat. I've seen no issues
with the current version.

Hope this helps somebody with Flash issues.

Interesting it is...  I've used FB for quite awhile, this seems to be an issue only with certain programs.
When I installed Darktable, it auto updated to the menu but, with the install of Digikam it did not update into the menu. Did the same thing in Ubuntu and #!.
Don't remember which program in #! as I have always manually added them in the past no matter which distro.  Be curious to see the fix for this.

Yep... that's me about 10 years ago. A friend of mine snap that pic while I was struggling to keep up.

Did the upgrade to the Liqourix kernel.
Did some stress testing.
Found a glitchy DDR2.
Pulled a pair DDR2. (may have been the cause of an impromptu crash a few days ago!)
Reran tests to verify solid hardware.
Opened Iceweasel, Digikam, Gimp, bash, Synaptic, and SpaceFM.

Really,REALLY solid performance from a 6 year old machine. This has to be the best OS I have ever had, bar none!

Now I need to find another stick of DDR2 to bring it back up to 8GB to be back in top form.

Gotta build that new machine!!!

Which is not very far behind the 3.7.10 that Liquorix is now at... But do not be confused at all by revision numbers... Liquorix is a totally different compile than the debian kernel

The reasons I use Liquorix is

Faster
Quieter
Leaner
Uses less ram
Uses less cpu
Is well maintained
Works great on all multimedia need I have and use

Exactly what I needed to know!!!

Which does VSIDO use? In the smxi tutorial, VastOne made mention to adding the Liquorix kernel sources and choosing Debian or Liquorix. How do I know which one I have?
If I have the Debian kernel, do I want to run the Liquorix?

In other posts I made some references to my most used software to repair photographs. The following link takes you to see some of my work in progress.

I use Gimp to repair damage, Darktable to correct color and exposure, and Digikam to manage my photos.
None of the above software really is suitable for the pure beginner but... the truly interested can find tons of tutorials online.

Digikam caveat... If you install you will find it has a ton of KDE dependencies. Also, it's a heavy user of memory and processing power. To date, on this machine, VSIDO has been the only distro to run it without crashes! 
btw... (haven't tried it on the #! machine)

I do a lot pattern removal and repair of old photographs and newspaper clippings. The plugins I use rely on fourier transform (for pattern removal) and frequency separation to remove and/or repair blemished areas on old photos. I may have asked for more than I can hope for. What I really need to do is "build" a new fast machine.

When using Gimp, I use a couple of plugins that will literally max out the processor. Memory load has been as high as 6Gb. The DDR2 and old dual core processor may not be enough.
What has improved with VSIDO is the lack of crashes. In Ubuntu, 100% processor load was the prelude to a crash.
Debian was the same way. In #! Statler, I'd have to jump through a couple of hoops to have the software I need. Haven't tried his latest yet.
For some reason or another VSIDO is very well behaved and fast. I think what I asked for was better processor management  to do those heavy tasks.
Is this beyond what you can do?

I will be building that new machine soon. Any thoughts on Processor, MB, Video? What kind of machine would you like to see VSIDO on? Anyone who has an opinion of what would work well would be greatly appreciated!

Feeling really stupid right know! I've been using fluxbox with Ubuntu for a couple of years. It's small and quick. When I downloaded #!, I tried OB then returned back to FB. Just more familiar with it I guess. With Vsido, I  used XCFE for awhile then switched back to FB. I THOUGHT you were using the slit to anchor Conky to the top! DUH Not in XFCE.

The best way I can describe the slit is that it is a relocatable dock that you can fasten Conky or whatever you want to it. I have Conky and bbrun fastened to it at the moment. I loved your Conky just the way it was but I added the date and time to the end of it. I used the slit to move it back up and center were you had it originally in XFCE.

Just so you know where I come from... I have used Gimp heavily on Ubuntu, had issues, but tolerated it.

Since the the install, I've had one crash. Seemed to be hardware related. With an older computer... acceptable by any standard.
Now to the good part...
Boring?
Not really... I've been running the ever living loving daylights out of it!
Themes are not really my thing. But I do like your preload!
Loading up a 500 meg photo file (one of the smallest I have) and editing uo to 20 layers deep in Gimp, has been truly a joy!
This distro has handled a lot intense processing! The crash I mentioned, was with only a browser open.
Could I post some of my experience with the graphics software I use in the multimedia section of this forum? I might be able to offer a little insight.

Vsido... So far... Simply great!

Have them already, I do use Digicam on occasion. Didn't look yet... but I believe it's in the repos.
Side note... Haven' tested VSIDO with Gimp yet, haven't been able to set up shared folders in the vm. Some issue that's being address about the current sid kernel?
Dedicated drive will solve this.
