after reading many posts on different forums, finally discovered what was MY issue with WICD
when I go to top-right corner of the screen to WICD, all I can find there:
--Connect
--Connection Info
--Quit

However, after reading more about WICD, I started it from the menu and from root terminal, and now I have the "arrow" and options to set up my connection in preferences.
That WICD icon on the top-right corner is very misleading, it is just a "notification"
I did not accepted to find a "taskbar" at the top-right corner, however the "speaker" is there for the volume, so after all it looks like somebody wanted to build up a "taskbar" from there.
Although Fluxbox is fast, dark theme+icons+fonts looks good, --it is so 2001 in 2016 !---adding a more functional+familiar XFCE4 !

I have downloaded and installed Pale Moon following link to Linux on their website
only a 22.8 Mb download
Added the Deb 8 repos , and just did apt-get install palemoon
plays youtube videos and secure enough to log into a bank website and pay my bills
runs fast and menus looks like as the older firefox menus
so my vote goes to  PaleMoon

downloaded and installed from repo for jessie 8 by adding to repos, and use apt-get install
it was only a 22.8 mb download, it is half of the size of a less capable midori
plays YouTube videos, used it to pay online bills @mybank
so far it looks  very good to me

because smpalyer already in VSIDO, my thinking was to add another "sm" program , smtube to play videos directly from You Tube
however, download would be huge because all of needed dependencies, so I gave up on this idea
Is there any  nice & small video player to add ?

It is not a good idea to directly listen live radio stream in your browser, because it uses lots of resources and slows things down.
The best apps I find was "streamtuner2", it is a small download, has nice GUI , and has a vast selection of live broadcasting to choose from.
In Preferences the installed audio/video player needs to be entered to make it work.
For some reason "smplayer" buffers up to 20 % before plays, so I am using "audacious" instead, which plays immediately.
Maybe "streamtuner2" and  "audacious" could be added into next release, (and remove "smplayer" ?)
Hope this helps someone to enjoy their online listening experience.

fortunately my wifi adapter was detected and firmware was there too (iwlwifi)
do not know what's wrong with WICD here, maybe going to uninstall/reinstall and see what happens

installed some other media pkg-s (streamtuner2+audacious) and neither of them ended up auto-magically in the menu
Since I like Fluxbox's look & speed ,  going to take a look a FluxBox menu editor (I did not see anywhere in the menu)
If no succes, then here comes XFCE4 , already checked just a 70 Mb download

during boot, I have seen message about bluetooth started
confirmed later in synaptic that bluetooth+bluez was installed.....yet nowhere to be found in menu Settings
managed to get my bluetooth headphone working, by adding blueman and pulseaudio-module-bluetooth pkg-es
however, when looked for freshly installed  Blueman in menu, not found !
Of course I can start in terminal or with Application Finder, but do I really want to go thru that every time?
Any  new pkg needs to  manually added to the menu ?

managed to figure it out
did not selected "Class=auto" , so it stayed on default "allow-hotplug"
can the default on Class changed to "auto" in future releases ?
WICD is totally useless....I am connected to WIFI and it is working, and WICD still shows "not connected"
almost all Linux distros have a "Network Manager" in Settings, where wireless network can be added and configured
it would make every user (with a laptop) life easier!

wicd on top right gave me "scanning....no wireless network find"
than ollowed instructions on "how to"
