when drawing your base black box i see you are using this:

g=2
grad={{c=0x000000,a=1,p=0},{c=0x000000,a=1,p=1}}

since you only want a solid black fill
g=0
grad={{c=0x000000,a=1}}
might be more efficient

I don't think I can put it any better than sector11 has above!
