Yes, old school.

@oday - on those minimalist wm's try:

own_window no

in the conkyrc. Conky will output directly to the desktop and not have the borders, tabs on it.

And don't install dwm from the debian repos unless you like the default 9 tags (desktops) and blue color scheme. Any configuration has to be done by editing the config.h and recompiling so get the source code - dwm site (http://dwm.suckless.org/)
