OMG....7-12" of snow :o
And you like in Maine why? ;D
And by the way jedi, that wallpaper is way cool....copy please 8)
Here's the wall zbreaker...

Love Maine in spite of hard winters. We've actually had quite a nice, long autumn for up here! So, like VastOne said, pretty normal for up here really...
^ What was it Gordon Lightfoot said?
that good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
when the "Gales of November" came early.
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
when the Gales of November came slashin'.
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
with the Gales of November remembered.
"Superior," they said, "never gives up her dead
when the gales of November come early!"
I can tell you that you will get what we had today and it will bite and slash and cut...
Thanks for that wall jedi! Here it is tweaked just a bit...

Sometimes the weather guy gets it right. Probably more luck on his part than anything scientific! Anyway, (for all you meteorologists out there, that was a joke!) our weekend here was pretty exciting to say the least. The snow was just the half of it. Some shots around 4AM local time after the storm ended, taken from inside my garage...
My Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited has an Iron Rock Off Road 3 and 1/2 inch lift kit in it as well as off road after market tires. In other words it sits pretty high off the ground so don't let the height fool you into thinking we only got a couple inches of snow!

OMG jedi...hope everyone in your household is ok.
Crazy first storm indeed.
If the F was changed to a C those number would make more sense to me!
Some really nice Autumn (Fall) shots there guys!
Here it's less that a month to summer! I was sitting in the sunny warmth yesterday on the beach! :)
About 3 C for Jed that night. You lose power at all Jed?
ozi - enjoy your summer.

I need a new wm to play with, i3 is starting to bore me. And no.... Not really into fluxbox. Might poke around with pekwm or something weird :)
I thought you already used pekwm - you ever try awesome or wmfs?
@PackRat, no luckily for us we did not! The rest of Maine however, was not so lucky. Over 150,000 people did lose power that night and the next day!
We are getting prepared for the storm coming Friday now. Looks to be as bad as the last one unfortunately...

Best of luck and batten down the hatches.
Hatches battened! :)
Indeed ozi, have a great summer!
Thanks jedi!
Summer seems to be starting a tad early this year, and by all accounts hotter and dryer as well.
30C (86F) tomorrow friday and 32C (90F) on saturday
I hope everyone has their longjohns powered up for the winter! ;)
From a "Winter Storm Watch" to a "Winter Storm Warning"! Guess it could be worse, I could be in Aruba, or Belize... ???

no greater time sink than configuring fvwm.
Packrat, I was messing about with OpenBSD a while ago (v4.4 I think).

I've been doing some investigation myself lately!
^ Which one? I like FreeBSD - mainly because it supported my hardware - NetBSD was pretty good, too. OpenBSD install failed for me.
I think I'll stick with this Fvwm setup - no titles on browaer, or terminals:

I've tried FreeBSD a few times. And PCBSD once and that was enough for me.
EDIT: just install FreeBSD in a vm, simple enough. I have sudo working and want to install xfce. If that goes ok, I'll install it on my netbook and see whether I can get the wifi working. ;D

True! :-\
Dizzie, what exactly are those sexy launcher icons in the tint2?
I do not believe in any God nor do I believe there is a heaven, but I do believe I will sit in a room with Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix and play with them.
@VastOneTint2rc:
launcher_item_app = /home/dizzie/.config/apps/medit.desktop
medit.desktop
Icon=/home/dizzie/.config/apps/medit.png
And if you ask me if I can remember where I got them from?
QuoteNo, but I can make an archive of my icon folder for you
Checking out the Porteus (Slackware based) live CD. Slackware is my other distro of choice -
(http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot-11182014-125503pm.png) (http://en.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-11182014-125503pm.php)
pretty smooth; should make a nice rescue CD. Boots into X or console; as well as loading into RAM like Puppy.
I have always wanted to give slack a try PackRat, I might just have to do that. Porteus does look inviting
I built Porteus with Xfce and it still fits on a CD. Not a hybrid that can be directly burnt to a usb stick, but one can be created manually. Not designed to be installed on a HD.
If you want to try Slackware in a VM or an actual install, I recommend Salix OS (or it's sister project Slackel which is based on Slackware Current - the testing branch). Salix has a fluxbox edition and good selection of apps; their slapt-get repo is pretty complete.

^ I have. I keep thinking about re-installing Slackware on my desktop computer.
Slackware is still my primary distro. VSIDO is a nearly displacing primary. However I still feel somewhat drawn to the basic unix-like simplicity of Slackware, and how much I am in control of all aspects of my operating system, more so than with Debian, which I still do love.

You still looking? I was feeling nostalgic and visited this page - http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdesktopenv/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdesktopenv/)
wouldn't compile on my system; I wasn't motivated enough to really investigate.
As some know, I lost my father-in-law a couple of weeks ago. When I saw the new album cover of Pink Floyd's "The Endless River", it struck a nerve. It is a tribute album to Richard Wright, and mostly recorded when they did "The Division Bell" in '94. Only one song of the 21 songs on the album has lyrics, ironically enough called 'Louder Then Words' which is kind of opposite of 'Lost For Words' that was on "The Division Bell".
A great picture symbolizing the journey into the great unknown we'll all take someday. I'll sure miss my father-in-law, who was as close to being a father as one could ask, and a man among men...
