Title: apt-get suddenly hates my laptop
Post by: wpeckham on August 15, 2014, 11:31:06 AM
Everything has been going fine for the last three months, when suddently, just today..
apt-get dist-upgrade wants to remove all of xorg and uninstall every kernel.  This would, obviously, render my laptop unbootable.

Does anyone know what is going on?  Are the Repos broken?

This is another classic perl package update fuckaboo....

I have seen this three times now in 5 years of SID usage...the first two I have dubbed Perl Jam I & II...  perl devs seem to release way too early?  Not sure why or how, but this is the issue

Just wait 2-3 days for the rest of the devs to catchup to perl.  DO NOT run the updates...

Thanks for pointing this out

I have just done the update as it appears that all the perl apps that I run were in line with the perl update

I am seeing no ill effects of such a massive upgrade

This is what my updates were (http://hastebin.com/ejequligug.m)

Confirmed.  I was able to run an upgrade today without it wanting to uninstall all of xorg and all of my installed kernels.

How do I mark this 'solved'?

Well done on this thread... this is what I had hoped for in starting a forum... information flowing so everyone could gain from it

Thanks!
