Title: March 2014 Screenshots
Post by: VastOne on March 03, 2014, 12:32:54 AM
My happily boring world of VSIDO to kick off the new month

^ Happily boring is good when it's also happily working.  ;D

Slackware + Fvwm on the desktop -

VSIDO + Fluxbox on the laptop - going all in with tabbed windows/groups in fluxbox; windows are also normally maximized. Really liking this setup now that the key bindings are pretty well set:

^ share the wall, share the wall

Switched to smplayer2 (in the repos) since it's supposed to be developed for mplayer2. I didn't realize that mplayer2 is a fork of the original project, not a new version:

seems pretty smooth. VSIDO + Fvwm + Kong, the 8th Wonder of the World!

Edit - smplayer2 is a dead project; back to smplayer.

Wow, you are indeed!  They are gorgeous!

Here's another March shot that will let you all know that here in Northern Maine, we are still getting slammed by winter weather.  By 10am this morning we should have 10 to 14 inches of new snow.  I think I'm ready to move to Southern Cali...

Not everyone knows, but VSIDO got at least a little bit of it's inspiration from the great TV show "Fringe"!  VSIDO and Fringe, two of my favorite things...
My attempt with Gimp.  One of the scrots *cough cough* borrowed from the opening credits of the show back when it was still on the tele...

Some more for March.  First one is "Cluttered" with mrpeachy's new wun weather script, set up so it shows the current alerts and advisories.  The terminal is in 'drop-down' mode.  GMB layout by VastOne.

This one is the same, just not so cluttered and more representative of what my desktop really looks like...

Not bad eh? 550gb available drivespace after everything installed :)

Gotta love this kind of "graphicscard"

Graphics:  Card: Intel 82946GZ/GL Integrated Graphics Controller X.Org: 1.15.0 driver: N/A Resolution: 1280x1024@60.0hz
GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.3, 128 bits) GLX Version: 2.1 Mesa 9.2.2

Although... fast enough for youtube, mp4s(yes! I HATE mkvs with a passion, so don't even start, you will be ignored lol), and what not :)

*does a happy dance*

After a couple days of wanting to punch myself in the face I finally have VSIDO running on a new Macbook Pro.

I need to get the keyboard lights working but at least it is installed and it boots.

Will post a howto tomorrow for anyone interested

Also, Fluxbox may not be the best WM for this machine considering I dont have a right click  :D

Edit:

After a running dist-upgrade and a reboot my keyboard lights magically work
