Title: Latest VirtualBox update reboots host
Post by: VastOne on September 23, 2013, 10:06:04 PM
After todays latest dist-upgrade which included a VirtualBox update, I am finding I cannot run any of my hosts and when I attempt any function, VSIDO logs out with no messages.

I have seen from google this has been an issue in the past few years after updates..

Anyone else seeing it?

Will keep you updated as this progresses

I had the same issue and I believe this is how I fixed it....

sudo su

cd /usr/lib/virtualbox

mv VBoxTestOGL VBoxTestOGL.orig

ln -s /bin/false VBoxTestOGL

Edit:

but I dont have VB installed on this machine so I cant test

It did work... I would put in your post to run all of that as root so that anyone else seeking a fix will know that

Nice one lwfitz!

Thanks!

phew! scary!  glad to see a fix was promptly available...  not that i do any of my virtualboxing on my vsido box, but my vsido box is my "mission critical" always-on workstation-come-server.  ^_^   wouldnt want it to ruin my uptime.
