Title: Yet another #!'er coming over
Post by: cobaltwolfe on September 05, 2013, 12:31:24 AM
Hello all!

I'm was recently reading up on VSIDO and became interesting in testing it out. At the moment I'm attempting to download it but it continually stops at 111Mb and I'm not sure why. I"m going to continue attempting to download and hoping it works. I'm looking forward to giving it a shot as my current #! has pretty much been turned into Sid+smxi+systemd ect ect.

Thank you both for the warm welcome!

I am indeed using wget at the moment to download it with the -c command since I'm not sure why it was stopping it at 111Mb. I'm looking forward to giving it a test run and probable install :P

^ It is nothing on your end... it has to do with the host I am using.  Several people have had the same issue which is the reason why the wget method was setup

lol I'm pretty determined to get this downloaded. I'm using Dunkin Donuts wifi to get it and had just thought that it was just that cutting out on me. Its nearly done so once it is time for the usb stick to be put to use once again.

Alright so downloaded and on a USB at the moment. My thoughts so far is that (from the live usb) it appears to be using far less ram than #! running off the same stick. Only issue that I'm currently having is wifi. Attempting to run ceni results in being asked to provide the root psswd (which I've yet to figure out). It is recognizing that it is there considering that its showing when I do iwconfig. Once I've got all that sorted out I fully plan on wiping #! (since its pretty much turned in vsido anyway) and then doing a full install.

Cheers on an awesome looking Distro VastOne!

Welcome cobaltwolfe.

I happily run them both in my geeky world.

#! is the ultimate in rock solid simplicity and coolness and visido is pretty much the same, except you really are living a bit more on
the edge.....occasionly "stuff" will happen. ;D

Thank you everyone for the amazing welcome! I've decided that I'm going to use remastersys (I think that's what it's called.) And make a backup of my current install then do a dual boot for now until I've got everything where I want it.
