Thanks. Looks good on your set up
Seems like a technique that can go places ;)
^ Indeed
We all use the FOSS version of the debian font LaudatioC Font (http://downloadfontsfree.net/fonts/5836/laudatioc.html)
It is installed as a default on VSIDO
Wow its May already!

@ jst_joe
I love that version of Tux and was wondering when the right ime to use it in a wallpaper was...... THE TIME IS NOW! 8) 8)
@ falldown
Thanks buddy! 8)
I knew I liked you ;D
A tribute to falldown - everything else found on the web, the VSIDO plaque was edited of course.

OOPS!
Very cool S11!! I really like that plaque!
Thanks ... you did the hard stuff though. :)

Very very nice - seems a shame to have windows open over it :)
Under 1.5GB running Iceweasel and Virtual Box openSUSEx86_64 Xfce with 2 cpu's and 2GB ram allocated.

Nice work VastOne...
I'm impressed! ;D
^ Very nice jst_joe
Thank you for sharing the ability of VirtualBox running another Distro so cleanly
That is impressive!
I made a VHD of my Windowz 7 HD, it runs around 2.75 GB on VirtualBox with 2GB and 2 cpu's allocated.
I expected Windowz to max out anything allocated to it. :D
It still runs pretty smooth on the VM even while running MS Publisher.
Windows in a VM runs surprisingly well.
And to stay on topic heres a picture of a baby hatching out of a watermelon

Or maybe hes eating it..... I prefer to think hes hatching :D

The adventure begins:
(http://t.imgbox.com/adqBF9uD.jpg) (http://imgbox.com/adqBF9uD)
^ Hopefully it will be as good as we hope... ;D
Well, so far, the adventure is great! Just wanted to post a scrot to let everyone see the benefits of having 'systemd' installed on their system. Not only does it make boot-ups and shut-downs much faster, it also allows you to do an awesome job cleaning up your Grub2 menu! Below is a shot of my Grub2 menu at boot-up, with every single entry working and booting in incredible times. (including the 32 bit version of VSIDO)
(http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/grub2systemd.jpg) (http://en.zimagez.com/zimage/grub2systemd.php)
If this gets anyone's attention, and you'd like to know how to do this, you can follow the wonderful "How To" that VastOne wrote in the "How To" section of the community forum! There are a couple of 'additional' steps, that with VastOne's permission, I'll be more than happy to provide... (to make it look like the one in my scrot)
^very nice jedi, and nice wall 3 or 4 posts above, and congratulations for making your post #500!
VSIDO with systemd; fluxbox and i3 - because there are days you just need to tile ;D
(http://t.imgbox.com/addlXcnu.jpg) (http://imgbox.com/addlXcnu) (http://t.imgbox.com/adgG4YrM.jpg) (http://imgbox.com/adgG4YrM)
dropped tint2 and went with fluxbox's own iconbar, clock, system tray.
@Vastone - have you been in contact with the fluxbox dev's; I think that either on their website or wiki they maintain a list of distros that use fluxbox as default.
^ Looks good Rat Man... I have not been in contact with any of the FLuxBox devs yet...
I will do that today
Working with Shotwell, getting my picture library imported and thought maybe you'd like to see what a hard working machine looks like! I'm used to a few hundred Mb in use and was surprised to see upwards of 3Gb's in use when importing a large picture library. Glad to have the RAM! Anyway thought the graphs looked cool...

Just a couple shots of video playback on the recent build - no overheating on the HP2000 with VSIDO - impressive.
(http://t.imgbox.com/actRylgU.jpg) (http://imgbox.com/actRylgU) (http://t.imgbox.com/adglMbx4.jpg) (http://imgbox.com/adglMbx4)
^ Nice!
The (my?) HP2000 has some overheating issues; so far the Core heat has not gone above 60 C running custom kernel 3.9.2 and VSIDO - you're my new hero 8)
:D
You have a certain method for building your custom kernels?
Yes -
http://verahill.blogspot.com/2012/07/compiling-kernel-35-on-debian-testing.html (http://verahill.blogspot.com/2012/07/compiling-kernel-35-on-debian-testing.html)
I add a step. After unpacking the kernel, I use the:
make mrproper
step outlined in the kernel readme; the kernel has always compiled correctly after I do that; and if I want, I can use "make menuconfig" to go through all the sections if I need to.
The driver for my SD card reader always compiles if I go that route.
^ Would you do me a huge favor and write your process in a How To here which includes the steps you use for the current kernel?
I think the VSIDO forums and users would benefit from your writings...
I appreciate it!
^^ Interesting... I am building (or attempting to build) kernel 3.9.2 now...
I thought I had every build package needed for any types of build as part of the vsido-welcome script but what I have found is kernel-package is not installed and that is obviously needed for make-kpkg to even begin
Needless to say, it is now part of the welcome script
@PackRat, Now that I have successfully built one using your method and the linked url, I can do the How To...
I appreciate it

^^ Except that the deb install final step failed! :'(
@jedi - thanks
@vastone - Odd, usually if you get that far it works. I have had the compile fail, and kernel panics afterwards, but the debs have always installed.

Pretty awesome looking. You're actually using 3% of your swap file? What are you running that does that? I can't remember ever having activity on the swap file - none that registered with conky, htop, or any other system utility.
Thanks buddy.
Yeah I saw that and am not totally sure why it dipped into swap. My guess
Is that it's left over from a ceni bug I posted about in the support thread.
This machine has 16gb ddr3 so there's no reason to go into swap ;D
Not sure where I'm going with this yet, it's a work in progress.
I do have an image in my mind, I just haven't quite hit it yet.

Belated thanks to Sector11 for the help discovering the correct use of the sensor outputs for my Conky...
Another day another Conky! I really think it's time for one of those 12 step programs... I keep telling myself I can quit whenever I want to! Just doesn't seem to happen...

Good luck with your 12 step program.... :)

Thanks for an early morning laugh... ;D
VirtualBox finally running again, so thought I'd play! Some buttercup on YouTube with a whole bunch of viewers claims this is the "#3 Free OS on the Planet"! I disagree, and it wouldn't be in my top 10, just decided to try it in a VM. Scrot of Zorin OS 6.3 in VirtualBox...

OK, so Zorin OS 6.3 officially sucks IMO so deleted that VM. Playing around with the different distro's out there gives you a real appreciation of VSIDO!!! Still hands down the best I've ever used.
I did play around with Arch Linux this weekend, and here's a scrot of it running in a VM on VirtualBox in VSIDO.
