Title: [solved] avatar upload
Post by: jst_joe on February 08, 2013, 01:14:27 AM
Hello all,
When I tried to upload my new avatar today it keeps changing it from  a gif to a png.
Something I'm doing wrong or not doing?

Joe

The .gif has to be no larger than 85x85 so open the gif with gimp and resize the image (the main one that pops up) and then export as gif and make sure you check animation. Then try uploading again. If that doesnt work upload the image somewhere so I can get it and ill resize it for you.

Do I need to bump up the size of the avatars?

Right now 90*90 is what it is set at, but I can change it if needed

 8) Glad to help. If this is solved for you please mark as solved  ;D

@ VastOne

I think 90x90 is plenty big, if we have animated avatars that are to big it will take forever to load a page.

@lwfitz... 90*90 is all any will ever be, and the reason why they were converted to png is there is a mod within this SMF that actually reduces all oversized avatars to 90*90 automagically...

Just another feature of SMF I really like!
