^ cool, still giving jwm some love.
You planning on switching Star Linux over to Devuan?
No not switching totally, just offering more choice.
Live-Build, at least my version, is working. It still needs a good cleanup though.
I did an install from live session this morning, just works! When Devuan releases a beta, I'll create a larger set of images.

Perl is actually a lot more relevant today than LUA is. Maybe I should be looking at this 'Fvwm'... (lua sucks the brain so dry, and really, it isn't that awesome...)

Agreed. The reason why I'm reluctant to use awesome is lua. The times I've tried it I backed off within minutes, Nevertheless awesome is really awsome, but not its guts. I have lua onboard because of fucking conky and mpv, otherwise it will be purged completely. I like Packrat's idea of using perl for monitoring the system instead of conky/lua.

I've tried but never caught me enough. Maybe I haven't insisted properly. Maybe some day... You know, Too many WMs out there. For now Fluxbox is my WM to go. I also like and usually have around cwm and frankenwm. New love/finding is wmfs2. For floating nothing beats fluxbox IMHO, But as you can see, still searching a favorite tiler which does good floating too... if any. LOL. Franken is a winner for now. I don't like to recompile for every small config changes, but it's really fast, so...
In my very limited experience, I leaning towards XCB based WMs more and more, with the only exception of Fluxbox.

Looking now for that 2:38 scrot I know I have somewhere! :o
Do we have a thread for extraneous configs? I'm sure that I've "borrowed" this compton config from someone, somewhere...
My current .compton.conf
#--------------------------------
#-------Backend Settings:--------
#--------------------------------
backend = "glx"; # Use GLX backend for rendering
vsync = "opengl"; # Use OpenGL to implement vsync
glx-swap-method = 3; # Use a triple-buffer
paint-on-overlay = true; # Improves performance (usually) and reduces flickering
glx-no-stencil = true; # Improves performance
glx-no-rebind-pixmap = true; # Improves performance with rapid window changes, might not work with some drivers
#--------------------------------
#--------Shadow Settings:--------
#--------------------------------
shadow = true; # Enable drawing shadows on windows
shadow-radius = 9; # The blur radius for shadows
shadow-offset-x = -5; # The horizontal offset for shadows
shadow-offset-y = -5; # The vertical offset for shadows
clear-shadow = true; # Zero the part of the shadow's mask behind the window, may break some applications
no-dock-shadow = true; # Do not draw shadows on docks/panels
no-dnd-shadow = true; # Do not draw shadows on DND windows
shadow-exclude = [ # Do not draw shadows on these specific applications:

#"n:w:*Chromium*",
"class_g ?= 'Notify-osd'",
#"class_g ?= 'Cairo-dock'",
"class_g ?= 'Xfce4-notifyd'",
"class_g ?= 'Xfce4-power-manager'"
];
#--------------------------------
#--------Fading Settings:--------
#--------------------------------
fading = true; # Enable fading windows during opacity changes
fade-delta = 20; # The time between steps in a fade in milliseconds
fade-in-step = 0.03; # The opacity change between steps while fading in
fade-out-step = 0.03; # The opacity change between steps while fading out
detect-client-opacity = true; # Prevent opacity from being ignored for some applications
#--------------------------------
#--------Window Settings:--------
#--------------------------------
wintypes: # Change behavior for these specific types of windows:
{
tooltip = { fade = true; shadow = true; };
};
Also as part of my startup file in .fluxbox I've added the following;
compton --backend glx --paint-on-overlay --glx-no-stencil --glx-no-rebind-pixmap --vsync opengl-swc --shadow-exclude "! name~=''" --config ~/.compton.conf -b
Probably overkill... (the above part that I have in my ~/.fluxbox/startup)
^ Set one up in the VSIDO changes area... be a great place to bookmark configs and such

@jedi - thanks
there are threads for conky, tint2, and compton in the Scripts and HowTo section.
@jedi: I'm borrowing it. I'll call it compton heavy if you don't mind. 8)
This is another cool and excessive one I've borrowed from brontosaurusrex. It's called "a lot of compton" (Named by him).
compton -cCG --paint-on-overlay -o 0.9 -r 30 -l -9 -t -9 -i 0.8 -e 0.75 -m 0.9
This is my dual core centrino Thinkpad T400 with 8Gb's of RAM and a 256Gb Liteonit SSD drive. (a $150.00 dollar US purchase off of ebay!) Had been playing with Arch and awesomewm. One thing that seriously has impressed me is that the Xsession-errors file is only 65Kb. That is after 90+ days of uptime. Just using it as a regular daily user, i.e. checking email (icedove) browsing (Chrome) editing configs (medit, and ok, yes a little playing with Vim) GMusicBrowser, Mpd+Ncmpcpp, using Zsh for the shell and urxvt-unicode for terminal. LibreOffice. Also has luakit and mutt configured. Scrot from Jan 2nd. Still up and running...

^ WOW @ kate :P
and too bad about Void
Void linux is solid - they're going to be around a while. If anyone is looking for a minimal distro with a good selection of packages I recommend Void (more so than Arch even). Their package system is git based, if you're the type that likes to customize/contribute they have a system n place to clone their github so you can become a developer/contributor. The main devs appear to be pretty cool.
