Post by: Gordon on August 11, 2015, 05:48:53 PM
Hi All

I am trying to install digikam but keep coming up against held broken packages. I have read loads of blogs, tried loads of suggestion, tried using synaptic package manager and the other one, can't remember what it's called,  all to no avail. can anyone tell me what to do please ? or is it that Digikam wont work or is not worth the hassle ?. anything else that has all the same gizmo's. don't like dark table couldn't understand it  :(.

@Gordon: Sid is going through a large and extensive upgrade, chances are that digicam has unmet dependencies, leaving your install with broken packages. Some of us is just waiting this out until sid is fully upgraded, or doing the dist-upgrade without breakage at this point. To reset your terminal, run
Quotesudo dpkg --configure -a
This should reset your terminal, and run
Quotesudo apt-get update
And, this to check your terminal and "apt-get" has cleared.  I would recommend holding off trying to install new packages until this sid upgrade completes.  -zephyr

Hi zephyr

Thanks for that. I think I will wait until the all clear is given before trying again  :)
