... hehe, and i made a nice simple background of house, in the middle of saying something that had particular resonance with me. ... tho i hope it's not just going to end up an excuse for pig headed arrogance. XD
ps, i should point out... i never normally use floating windows. ... that was just for the scrot. i thought i'd manage to have more variety in my fonts in the terms... seems they're all set up with standard old faithful, and lxterminal, i thought i'd be able to have multiple instances using different fonts. ... the tiniest one, is using bf font. and yes, that is the real size... and yes, it is "usable" ~ if you're masochist.

much happier with my inactive mode line, but still room for improvement. now red, was green.
much happier with my default face colour, an off white, kinda eggshell.
much hapier with my erc default font, which now being set, makes nicks a different colour from the rest.
... and various other tweaks.

oh look, all those images hosted by image hosts are unavailable, leaving ugly gaps... and those that are self hosted, remain... ^_^ my smugness wont last. like i often tell people "i am responsible enough to tell you i am unreliable." and my server (which isnt even self hosted, nor is it running off power i generated, but lets not muddy the metaphor with these details) will likely be just as unreliable in the long run. but at least then the idea is it'd be my fail, my responsibility, rather than be at the whim and mercy of a third party unknown element.
... we should rly all be getting with the stan meyer, nikola tesla, ... och, i should be saying i there too. I... ugh, do i have to build it myself? *grumbles* effectively free energy would be nice though.

^ Nice! Well done statmonkey and thanks PackRat for supporting a users code
I haven't rebuilt dmenu yet VO I will later tonight and let you know but relatively positive it will resolve it. I looked a little at the package in debian builds and the one on the suckless site and it looks like I will have to patch first to get it "debian ready" not sure if PackRat can confirm this.
PackRat I am resisting -- barely -- playing with the paths in dmenu. It really is a world changer for me. I don't know if I am a script kiddie but I do love my scripts :) and most of the stuff I use daily is stuff I wrote or modded for my needs. I did write up something that will essentially zen a list of my scripts from a dmenu call and then give me a terminal and that is what got me started on this path as it is pretty obvious I can do all that without zenity from the actual dmenu itself with the script you posted earlier. There is just so much cool stuff being done with dmenu it's put a hop in my step.

^ nice one, new look for velociraptor.
@statmonkey - dmenu will compile without issue/patching on debian.
Or are you looking to add some 3rd-party patches? I have seen some configurations that use x,y coordinates and control the width - so it will look like the fluxbox menu; and I think xft fonts require a patch.
back on topic - compiled fvwm the other day -

Nope, nothing special, I was trying to compile it by running config.mk and then head slapped opened it in geany/build/Make it compiled and ran sudo make clean install and it was over and done with. Never forget I am an idiot! Anyway thanks for the help and back to your regularly scheduled screenshots and discussions. Pardon my interruption.

I was planning on leaving my recent vsido install on to see how it goes. It's an NFS server, but just for simple file sharing.

I just ended a 43 day uptime on it to load the latest SID kernel
You can access it here... (http://vsido.no-ip.biz/)
rummaged around my old gt themes, found one i barely remember making, let alone what i was thinking when i named it.
"sgq1tt2"
but it seemed nice, kinda had a layered mesa look to it, like the minecraft biome mimics well. so i stuck it on, much to my pleasure, is rather tightly compact. so i thought to update my web browsing css themes to also include a sgq1tt2 too. it likely has quite a few "edge cases".

might make a series of them, and include a range of light-dark to please many tastes and lightings. .... "might".
still trying to take things slow. ... "trying".
i've killed off vlc now... only mplayer. maybe i should do the same with virtualbox, and go for only qemu.
also, this is my tabular-boonad config for xmonad that i so treasure. but i am getting that itch to go off n harvest more ideas from clfswm, and hopefully learn to use it better, maybe even learn some configuring and lisping for it. anyway, this may mean the next/future screenshots from me will be quite different.

Minor change to compton.conf...

^ mind sharing your config?
Hey lwfitz, not at all. The Conky configs are posted in the Conky thread. I'm using v9000 for the weather, VastOne's gmail_parser script for the email, and the time is just a simple little Conky to display the time. Oh, and the bottom Conky is the default that comes with VSIDO Raptor, with just some minor tweaks for my machine. The only change I made was to compton.conf as follows; the first shadow was set to false, changed it to true, and the no-dnd-shadow I changed from true to false...
# Shadow
shadow = true; # Enabled client-side shadows on windows.
no-dock-shadow = true; # Avoid drawing shadows on dock/panel windows.
no-dnd-shadow = false; # Don't draw shadows on DND windows.
clear-shadow = true; # Zero the part of the shadow's mask behind the window (experimental).
shadow-radius = 7; # The blur radius for shadows. (default 12)
shadow-offset-x = -7; # The left offset for shadows. (default -15)
shadow-offset-y = -7; # The top offset for shadows. (default -15)
# shadow-opacity = 0.7; # The translucency for shadows. (default .75)
# shadow-red = 0.0; # Red color value of shadow. (0.0 - 1.0, defaults to 0)
# shadow-green = 0.0; # Green color value of shadow. (0.0 - 1.0, defaults to 0)
# shadow-blue = 0.0; # Blue color value of shadow. (0.0 - 1.0, defaults to 0)
shadow-exclude = [ "n:e:Notification" ]; # Exclude conditions for shadows.
# shadow-exclude = "n:e:Notification";
shadow-ignore-shaped = true;
# Opacity
menu-opacity = 0.9; # The opacity for menus. (default 1.0)
inactive-opacity = 0.9; # Opacity of inactive windows. (0.1 - 1.0)
#frame-opacity = 0.8; # Opacity of window titlebars and borders. (0.1 - 1.0)
inactive-opacity-override = true; # Inactive opacity set by 'inactive-opacity' overrides value of _NET_WM_OPACITY.
# Fading
fading = false; # Fade windows during opacity changes.
# fade-delta = 30; # The time between steps in a fade in milliseconds. (default 10).
fade-in-step = 0.03; # Opacity change between steps while fading in. (default 0.028).
fade-out-step = 0.03; # Opacity change between steps while fading out. (default 0.03).
no-fading-openclose = true; # Fade windows in/out when opening/closing.
# Other
#inactive-dim = 0.5; # Dim inactive windows. (0.0 - 1.0, defaults to 0).
mark-wmwin-focused = true; # Try to detect WM windows and mark them as active.
mark-ovredir-focused = true;
detect-rounded-corners = true;
# Window type settings
wintypes:
{
tooltip = { fade = true; shadow = false; opacity = 0.75; };

JAYSUS! Holy Shites!

@Jedi, not the transparency on the lxpanel... I am thinking the black is there only when you move something over it

Just did pretty much the same myself with the latest 32-bit .iso....no shot unfortunately...scouts honor :)
^ When I first read that, I thought it said Scots honor and well, I was going to say....

Well alrighty then! Here's the 64bit install done in 3 minutes 31 seconds!!! My personal fastest ever...

Wow, that's pretty incredible jedi. Prior to my running VSIDO the record was held by Aptosid which usually installed in a little over 5 minutes on my box.

hehe. going on a little slack adventure. :)
idk why i'm not doing this in chroots, idk why i'm doing it in virtualbox... maybe because i was about to start playing around with vsido build stuffs, and then changed my mind at the last minute.
got my slackmom installed, and just a couple tweaks to make sure it starts with a black background, and the terms dont have white glare and scrollbars. off i scoot to get it a nice wm (not that there's anything wrong with fluxbox... i just prefer tiling, and have downloaded spectrwm (aka my beloved scrotwm) slackbuild, ready to be installed on slackmom, and then the sdb2 i attached is for meddling making some smaller lightweight minimal system... gonna see how much capability i can squeeze into a gb hd space. :) will be keeping it to the cli and tui as much as possible.
slack... for the learnins. ;)
ps, forgot to mention, methinks i'll lift over much of the vsido configs for slackmom. ^_^

Nice peaceful day on the golf course and fishin hole...

You spent the day golfing and I spent the day fishing........... sounds like a good life to me!
Playing around with KDE again

^ That looks damn good!
One more with a subtle tiny piece added

Beautiful! And one of my all tome favorite songs......
^ See your artwork in the image?
Thanks!
:o :o No I didnt........... 8) Very nice!
Well, I finally took the leap and jumped head first into my first Arch install.........
(http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/snapshot1106.png) (http://en.zimagez.com/zimage/snapshot1106.php)
Quite happy with the way it turned out and as a bonus I didnt break anything to badly ;D
mmm. love that golf course background. ... dare i suggest, could even have the like as default... ...or, do you not want to attract the business management golfing class? ;D
anyhoo, here's a nice clean shot of my desktop with no windows. ... still on tabular boonad (xmonad), as amidst other geekings, i've not gotten around to tackling why my clfswm wont start (tho i suspect all may be well with a simple clearing out of existing configs, in which there's nothing of value, and likely something of bork).
prizes for anyone who knows what car this is:
(http://ks392457.kimsufi.com/stuff/scrots/xrt201310312101-thumb.png) (http://ks392457.kimsufi.com/stuff/scrots/xrt201310312101.png)
and yes, that is an absurd amount of glare for me, but i like that car enough, i dont mind the headaches, if i get to see it a little more. :) ;)
oh, and i suppose i'll take another scrot of what i'm looking at while writing this (near enough ~minor adjustments to hide sensitive bits ~ that was close, nearly revealed my autojoin lists), warts and all:
(http://ks392457.kimsufi.com/stuff/scrots/xrt201310312113-thumb.png) (http://ks392457.kimsufi.com/stuff/scrots/xrt201310312113.png)
what i consider a wart, is that redundant line along the top of my firefox... what's that, n why did it appear when i made two firefox windows? ~ oh, it's the menubar. removed. ahh. cbf taking another. ^_^
oh, ps, in other commentary... tagfile generator script to remaster slackwares, of a sort.
my digit.org file getting populated with some draft dietary stuff, to help keep me in check on the stuff i shouldnt be eating, and more remind me of the stuff that's good (for me) in all healthcare modalities that i partake of (most notably ayurveda, blood group diet, geo-nute, some paeleo practices and insights, and of course, conventional western medicine). small beginings to that portion of the list... but it will grow with me for years. *has a panic realising he has no backup of it yet, and throws a copy of it to his other drives.*
been loitering in ##slackware a bit since my re-entry to the world of slack. ... tis a strange place.
and thought i'd highlight a little segment of #emacs that brought a lil smile to my face. trolls trolling each other, out'd eloquently. ^_^
pps! oops! forgot to mention, if you're a friend and not on my friend list yet, dont be offended. i just havnt gotten around to it yet.... and besides, we're mostly all in this one place... the nick highlighting becomes redundant. :)
Very nice digit! Always a good idea to hide your sensitive bits with Jedi around!
Btw is that a vanquish?
@lwfitz - and kde on arch no less; enjoy the ride.
