I'm still here...

Good to know.  Nice to see you still lurking about.

Nice setup.

When Georgia eased back the covid restrictions we started fishing there as well as here in South Carolina. On one of the brackish estuaries, my oldest landed this ~50 pound black drum with 8 pound line:

She won biggest fish for the trip; has her picture in the ranger station now.

Not too much. Still manage to get out and go fishing every now and then. Been going to spots in Georgia for spring break trips. Oldest daughter hauled in a 40+ pound black drum last time we were near the coast. Hauled it in on 8 pound line.

Summer vacation right around the corner now. But the big news is that DOE will be bringing people back on site for work so the wife will not have to work from home any more.

@vastone - Looks good; still running smooth? And how is the golf game these days?

Which installers have you looked at?

Any familiarity with the Xebian Project??

It uses the Debian installer for a Sid install (I successfully installed it to metal the one time I tried). You can hit that code tab and see their configuration.

I tried getting a Sid build/iso from a Debian live-build setup. Someone else did the heavy lifting to set up a Debian stable system. But the build process would always fail. Maybe you can spot the tweak needed to get Sid to successfully build.

Hey PackRat, I also remember you from the BunsenLabs forums and what about the BL installer and do you think it will work for Vsido?

That's the Debian installer. In theory you should be able to build a Sid distro with the Debian live-build system, but me and another user couldn't get to work. But the Xebian team is using the Debian installer so we just didn't know the trick to make it work.

Fluxbox on dual monitors -

Wife has been working from home for about a year due to the plague. At her office, she uses dual monitors so went out and got a second monitor a couple months ago. Unfortunately, fluxbox does not support different workspaces on different monitors (that I'm aware of; if this can be done please share!). However, the toolbar and iconbar can span the monitors in a dual monitor setup:

Fluxbox Menu --> Configure --> Toolbar --> On Head --> All Heads.

Other than having to look to the right to see the clock and system tray not a whole lot of difference for me.

That is Mount Ararat; I think the view is from Armenia.

QuoteThere are Samsung phone ,two Samsung tablets and an iPhone 8 plus several other items when the grand children are here, all have no problem

Are they connected to the wireless service provided by your cell phone service? That wifi is usually different from the wifi provided by your isp/ router. I have Verizon cell service that the phones and ipad use. The wireless on my router that the computers use, I set up myself; the isp is Atlantic Broadband.

QuoteI don't know why both won't work at the same time but if both are connected neither of them works, I have to take the WiFi card out to get the wired one to connect to the internet.

That sounds like a BIOS issue. How old is this computer, and what brand/model.

^ this; good question.

Gordon, I am assuming you have a physical router in your home and are set up something like:

Computer ---> Router ---> Modem ---> Internet.

Someone with a similar issue did not actually have the hardware, his isp only allowed the modem and controlled the rest.

That was nice of them.....not!

When you get your wired network back up and running, you can run this command from a terminal:

ip route | grep default

That will give results similar to:

default via 192.168.0.1 dev wlan0

That ip address is your router/gateway. Don't actually post the results, but once you have that ip address and your wireless card recognized, it's straightforward to set up the wireless network. What brand is the modem? You can check their site for the model number and there should be a step-by-step How To. Or at least the operators manual.

QuoteMy router is provided by SKY

So the router is owned by your internet provider? You may need to get with them about setting up a wireless connection.
