Debian Pure Blend of Fluxbox

VastOne

I got an email yesterday from Stephan Foley asking me to if I could join the Debian Pure Blend of Fluxbox mailing list and maybe bring a few friends.

I asked for more clarity on this and this is what Stephan replied with:

QuoteHi Terry, thanks for the reply back. Debian's terminology is a bit confusing. It's a Debian Pure Blend. That means it is a project inside Debian that caters to an interested audience. Here's a link:

https://wiki.debian.org/DebianPureBlends

Right now what we have is a Debian developer helping out, a developer's mailing list and a page on Debian's wiki.

https://wiki.debian.org/FluxBox/Blend
https://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/blend-fluxbox-devel

So, it will be a fluxbox-debian blend. Basically, just an easy way to install Fluxbox on Debian...fully configured with everything as
operational as we can make it...themes, fonts, system notifications, sound, automounting disks, etc...all the gotchas you encounter when trying to install Fluxbox on base Debian with no help.

It would be great if you can post a link on your forum. Also, we need leader types, so please at least send an email to say hello :-)

email to: blend-fluxbox-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org

Thanks!

Steve

This sounds like an excellent opportunity to join and be a part of grass roots development and discussions.

I also saw this from Stephan on the forum/wiki that is being setup right now

QuoteI know a lot about Debian from a users perspective. But, please remember it took me 2-3 months when I first tried installing Fluxbox to actually learn it all. I appreciate your giving me insight on the developer side, I'm just having a little trouble assimilating it all so quickly.

I am a FluxBox fan and support it probably as much or even more than that of the average user...  ::)  ... Having said that, I still know so little about all of it's power and glean a lot of information from right here on these forums from our resident experts...

I would encourage everyone interested in seeing FluxBox grow to join this mailing list

Thanks

Hello everyone, this is Steve from blend-fluxbox. Damn...it is hard to register for this board with all the anti-bot checks!  :D

VastOne, just wanted to say thanks! This post has been great. And thanks to Jedi too for offering suggestions. Glad you also signed up Snap and riV.

If any of you want to sign on as developers, get an account at https://alioth.debian.org/ and then send me your login and I'll add you to the project. Post it in the mailing list or send me an email.

Thanks again and happy New Years!

I'd like to clarify my previous comment. You don't have to become a developer to help out. Just send us some comments on the mailing list. The list is open to everybody and user comments are just as helpful as getting developers on board.
