@VastOne - awesome piece of work.

changed things up a bit; cut conky back to bare essentials, using some fvwm modules I don't usually load - just trying something different.

VSIDO Discussions / Re: VSIDO KDE Build

Actually, given the default applications in VSIDO Gnome 3 would actually be a more suitable option. Not that I would look for it to
be created. Never really cared for Gnome 3. Got on well with Gnome 2 in the day. Also I've heard (but never substantiated) that Gnome and sid were not the coziest of bedfellows.

I'll substantiate that one for you; the only time testing or sid has has caused problems on my systems, it was gnome related. It would get fixed in a week or two, but I have to agree with lwfitz, not worth the headache.

You can use a program called xev to check if your function keys are registering.

Open a terminal and start xev -

xev

Click the titlebar of the white xev window (or place the mouse in it) to make that window active. Once it's active, when you press a key on the keyboard, you will see it's keycodes show in the terminal window. You can test it by pressing "b" or any other letter.

Press your function keys and see what the output is - the volume up key is usually something like XF86AudioRaiseVolume. Note what the output is for those keys, if they are working, you may be able to use them directly in key bindings.

In the guide you used, the 0xCE, 0x88 look like keysyms for the FN keys, see if they maych up with the files you created.

I am using the Siva Flat Op for openbox; it is nice - should still be available at box-look.

fluxbox doesn't normally read files from the /etc/xdg/autostart location (typo in my previous post) so you shouldn't be seeing two instances of wicd.
#2082
for multiple wicd icons in the system tray, check /etc/xdg/autostart and see if there is a wicd.desktop file in there. If so, remove wicd from the openbox autostart and see if you only have the one instance.

You can also check the instances of wicd with -

ps -o user,pid,ppid,command -ax | grep wicd*

to see which process is starting the wicd-client.

^ How's void working out for you? I gave it a try, but the font rendering wasn't too good on my system (HP laptop) and some other issues. Didn't have the time then to really get it straightened out. Seemed like a solid distro otherwise; hope it stays around.

Media Room / Re: Just listened to
November 15, 2013, 03:46:05 AM
^ A radio station in Las Vegas did a simulcast of that concert - I recorded it; then heard the news driving out to work the next morning. They were still confused on whether or not Eric Clapton was on the helicopter.

I have to transfer that concert to CD or mp3 one of these days.

Just listened to -

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Couldn't Stand the Weather
Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason
