A little teaser:

Machine:   Device: desktop Mobo: EVGA model: 141-BL-E757 v: Tylersburg

CPU:       Quad core Intel Xeon X5550 (-HT-MCP-) cache: 8192 KB
               clock speeds: max: 2793 MHz

RAM:       1190MiB / 12011MiB (trichannel mind you)

tl;dr :

My old system went tits up, so for the last couple of months i've been gathering parts. A friend was so kind and donate a Xeon CPU, and after that it was game time!
Picked up a nice eVGA X58 3way sli board for $30, which is stupidly cheap.

Anyway, i'll post pictures and screenshots later!

As always, have a fantastic day!

I still remember when we as kids, got woken up in the middle of the night to watch him live. 3AM or something :)

I'll stick with Debian thanks. And if I must FreeBSD :-)

I think there are some internal key bindings for volume control. My only issue with mpv is that it will select the Spanish version of the movie on some DVD's - namely the recent Batman movies (although, Anne Hathaway as Cat Woman speaking Spanish while kicking butt is kind of cool).

QuoteGot a new SSD for my laptop, and not sure what I want to put on it. Will try avoid using wicd or ceni for wifi, so we'll see what I come up with

Slackware-current - no systemd (OpenRC I think), but all the usual Slackware tools for manual configuration. Slackware 14.2 - or whatever they end up calling it - release should be imminent.

I'd rather run Ubuntu with a EISA card, than using Slackware, at least Ubuntu have a package manager  :D

Using an Intel, anything above 75 is hot.

I keep most of my PCs running at about 20-30 (on air) even FreeBSD (PackRat!)

How do you find Devuan Ceres?
Solid, fast, and overall very pleasing to use. It's just Debian without the systemd monster :) But i'm still waiting for some systemd crap to come sneaking in :D

Same old, except running Devuan/SID, with no !@#$ systemd

"Pretending to do stuff"

FreeBSD+ZFS is amazing! But I might just go back to Debian in a few days lol. Fun to set up though :)
