^ GTX960 here. More or less the same situation. It was unsupported and worked funny with nouveau, but the Nvidia drivers were not available when I got it. Had to wait for months to be able grab drivers from experimental... and crossing fingers. It worked fine in the end. I've got the drivers from Sid now and I have no performance complaints at all. Anyway, I'd like to bounce back to nouveau if possible. I should check if this card is finally fully suported to test it and check if vdpau works as good as with proprietary with mpv.

I guess it's the mesa transition still going on. It seems it has problems with Nividia. As PackRat pointed out it can make the whole Xsrever go away.

I also read somewhere early this summer that a big Xorg upgrade was coming. No idea if this is part of it or just the beginning. Haven't found any further reference yet. At least python has settle down.

I'm not happy with the Wayland switch either, that means that daily drivers in my workflow like fluxbox, urxvt, dmenu, rofi, xcalc and all the Xresources, xdotool, xbindkeys, xset, etc... tweaks and tricks will render useless. I'm not against evolution and changes, but the alternatives I'm seeing are not appealing at all at least for now. Also I'm pretty sure that the transition wayland+X support won't be short or smooth.

Interesting. Similar flat-bottom and flat-ends kinda jon boats were once popular boats amongst fishermen in my area to fish inside the inner waters of the galician rias. They were called "chalana". You don't see them often there days. Well, most old fishermen's boat types have almost disappeared, actually. There's a small movement in Galicia trying to recover traditional boats. But still not a big thing  unlike the east coast were these kind of initiatives are much bigger, popular and successful.

I haven't go fishing in years. But spent three weeks in my homeland up north (it's been a while since I had proper holidays!) One of my sisters and I went fishing almost daily. I think the old bug is biting again. Just a few days back home and eager to go fishing again.

It was mostly horse mackerel, loads of chub mackerel and some varieties of seabream in the low activity mackerel periods (for some reason, at least in that area, where you find horse m, there's chub m. around too). Horse mackerel gets active at night. They use come up close to the surface to eat, but when they're not active even all along the night, chub mackerel seems hungry at all times.   

It's curious that those two spices are called mackerel in English. Here we call them different and consider the so called horse mackerel not a mackerel at all. Just a distant relative.

BTW, anyone kayak fishing at sea around here? My sister and I are kicking around the idea of getting a pair for the next summer.

Same here. The two windows opened nearly at all times are SpaceFM and urxvt running a tmux session. The other GUI stuff comes and go.

It's a LinuxBBQ spin (Bork 64) with sysvinit/OpenRC and the antiX Sid repo enabled to help keeping some cruft away... You know what I mean. 

I was thinking about that. I'll install Vsido on metal and try to somewhat replicate my system to see what happens.

Not really. When it happens I'm doing something else, then when jumping back to SpaceFm it's stuck and sometimes shows only the menubar. The rest of the window is totally plain; No tabs, no panes, nothing else. Might be something related with GTK2, or something else borking it in some way. I'll keep checking.  The annoying thing is that it only happens once to twice per week. Hard to track.

I always run spacefm in a tabbed group in fluxbox. The group is like this:

It finally happened but I found nothing significant in the terminal messages. It just freezes with no error feedback and putting some cpu cores at full blast. I really have no clue about what to check.    What I found is that at least "ctrl  + c" terminates it. No real need to kill a stubborn process via htop. No idea if this is relevant.

Never heard of 4pane. It looks interesting and dependencies are only a bit bigger. It seems to deserve a try.

PCmanFM is not an option for me. I've tried it many times and feels like a huge step back. Ranger has been my main alternative for a good while. The main reason to keep going with SpaceFM (GUI instead of CLI) is that this great FM makes my workflow a bit faster and easier. Let's see...

Anyone else having issues with SpaceFM? It's not something happening every day but it happens quite often. I don't know if it's a memory leak, a segfault, or whatever, but once SpaceFM freezes when opening htop to kill it I can see at least two CPU cores maxed out.  I suspect it's some conflict with dbus, but it's just a wild guess. I would like to know if it's only here or someone else is having this issue.

The installed version is 1.0.5 (GTK2). Which is the last one. But.... it's two years and a half old!

Is SpaceFM abandonware by now? It will be so sad seeing my favorite file manager ever going down and having to switch to anything else. The Ignoranrguru's blog is also silent since a long time ago. This doesn't smell so good either.

Just one question. The "locker" part needs suckless-tools (if going that route instead of the other locker options), or more specifically slock, But IIRC suckless-tools is a Debian only package (maybe Ubuntu too. Not sure).  For most other distros the suckless stuff are independent packages. Shouldn't slock be specifically mentioned in some way into the "dependencies" group or whatever they are called in this case?

I point this out because If an user decides to go with any different patched dmenu version than vanilla, which is quite common amongst Debian users (and usually my case too), suckless-tools is not an option because of that other independent dmenu package, and slock (or any other suckless tools bit) must be installed separately from source.
