How To's / Re: How To - Setup a Wired NIC and remove WICD

The only reason a network manager (WICD) is part of VSIDO is for wireless users to easily setup and get connected

I have always used and suggested static via /etc/network/interfaces. DHCP is for people who do not know how to set up static or is just too lazy to learn it or do it

By turning DHCP off on my wireless router also eliminates those rogue neighbors who steal my bandwidth so security plays a big role in static IP's as well

Good to hear that mrneilypops.   :)

DHCP serves it's purposes in large network environments, but I cannot stand it!

I do not understand what you mean.  Are you saying it is asking for captcha and the same questions as when you signed up for the first time here on the forums?

This link pretty much sums it up

V SID O = Vast Sid One = Debian SID

I have not been able to find a successful tracker to broadcast the torrents from.  I have tried linuxtracker.org but have not received confirmation yet

Nice McLovin... I have a tweaked version of screenfetch that shows everything correctly ... it is called sfetch

Run that to see if you get the debian swirl and all of the right info from the results

I have seen this when I was up north on a different router... It was a Crapple router that provided the DHCP

What type of router are you using?  Can you setup static IP?

Nothing with VSIDO, it remains to be seen if 32bit will be built.

I have spent the last several days rebuilding my 'design pit' and all of my dev machines and I hope this gives me a better chance..

The issue is 32 bit dependencies in a sid environment.  In the debian 32 bit netinstall I did every thing was fine until I needed to add all the packages that make up VSIDO, at that point it puked Exorcist green slime

^ Thats cool... and I love me some pink, but just as a side note, VSIDO has 'adopted' that blue as it's standardized color

VSIDO News & Announcements / Re: Liquorix Kernel 3.7.0-5

I suspect it is a smxi thing Sector11, same with the inxi/root issue... I think it is because I used the stub install of smxi, but I am not sure.  On a new install inxi still needs root even though there has been at least 5 updates to inxi over the last month or so.

I have been super busy and have not had a minute to get over to the smxi forums to ask whats up..
