That OB and Fluxbox use the same tint2 files

tint2 -c /usr/local/bin/.tint2oblaunchers/tint2rc &
tint2 -c /usr/local/bin/.tint2oblaunchers/tint2rcallbtm

but Xfce uses

tint2 -c /usr/local/bin/.tint2launchers/tint2rc
tint2 -c /usr/local/bin/.tint2launchers/tint2rcallbtm

This is because the menu button on the Tint2 bottom panel is controlled differently with Xfce

Fluxbox and Xfce also use the same .conkyrc file becasue both can handle the panel setting while OB uses .conky_ob_rc because it needs:

own_window_type desktop

The first time you boot to a Fluxbox session, you may see a terribly fugly brown menu

To correct this click the desktop Right Click Menu / Styles and select vsido_black and the problem is solved

A thread to park some tweaks that we do once installed

Here is one

For some reason, the tint2 icon for SpaceFM does not show up as it is supposed to

To correct it do this:

In SpaceFM go to View / Window Icon and put in

vsidosfm

Click OK and the issue is solved

I did the backup portion with -j 4 as well.  It took less than a minute for the backup from 5 gig to a 959 MiB fsa of the build system

As long as I have been using fsarchive, I always took for granted that it was 'fast enough'

Boy was I wrong...

#3575
Wow... Was I ever wrong...

I just did a restore with the -j 4 option and it finished a 1 gig restore in 24 seconds...

Incredible..

Later on I will do a savefs with it to see how fast that is...

Incredible..

Thanks tlinsley!

Yes it can, just add it in the bottom one

@blaze, thank you for the feedback and kind words!

I would like to hear more about what you do to 'unslick it' and what additional applications you install

Let me know and I will try to add or change it based on these discussions

That panel is your systray panel, setup to be in the most obscure part of the screen. If you want to see it work, start something that uses a systray

If you want to disable it and not have a systray, it is in your autostart as

tint2 -c /usr/local/bin/.tint2oblaunchers/tint2rc &

You can disable it there

You can also

sudo medit /usr/local/bin/.tint2oblaunchers/tint2rc

and move it to where you want it OR you can autohide it, by changing the very last section from this:

# Panel Autohide
autohide = 0

to this

# Panel Autohide
autohide = 1

In Fluxbox it is in ~/.fluxbox/startup

In Xfce it is run from the Startup session

Thank you tlinsley!

I think the -j option defaults to using all 4 of my cores without that flag.  When I run this, my cpu is maxed at 100% and it only takes 2 minutes to back up and even less time to restore without using that option

It is good to know that flag in case you need it to use half of your cpu power, but when I do this I shut down everything and let fsarchiver have the whole show

I will test it with -j4 enabled to see if it is different..  Thanks for the tip.  ;D
