VSIDO News & Announcements / New download site
March 13, 2024, 08:48:12 PM
If you have not heard, InMotion royally fucked me by not making it known that file downloads are NOT allowed form their bullshit host plans.

Dizzie has made his file server available as a mirror that we all can download all VSIDO files from here

I will eventually move away from InMotion and resolve it but in the interim Dizzie has done us all a solid favor.. Thanks Mate!

Both VSIDO FSA's were updated to the new 6.6.15-amd64 kernel

You can download the btrfs and ext4 fsarchives at the VSIDO download site here

There is also a How To on how to effectively use fsarchive to get this installed

There is a current a package list that shows everything that is installed in VSIDO. Please review this file and let me know of anything needed, removed or added

VSIDO Changes / LightDM Login Icon/Avatar setup
October 21, 2023, 09:16:35 PM
For whatever reasons, the new ISO's lightdm setup is not seeing .face in the default /home directory. I got around this by putting it in a path other than a users /home directory, the latest lightdm seems to have issues understanding the permissions in anything other than root. I ended up putting it in /usr/share/images/desktop-base/ and then default-user-image=/usr/share/images/desktop-base/.face in the lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf file

I have an open bug report here but it seems to be not taken seriously since it cannot be reproduced.

Perhaps we can solve this for them... Is anyone on any SID version now that can load and run lxdm and test it as well? If you use the latest VSIDO fsarchive download you will need to download lxdm to see the issue

September 16, 2023, 01:17:44 AM
Been doing the fsarchive version for a year now as it was first posted here last September 4

It's been an interesting and fun ride that is helping keep this decaying old mans mind a bit sharper

Cheers

General Support / VirtualBox 7.0.10 on kernel 6.4 FIX
September 02, 2023, 02:40:39 AM
Been without VirtualBox for the last couple of weeks until I found this fix and it works.

Simply edit

sudo medit /usr/share/virtualbox/src/vboxhost/vboxnetflt/linux/VBoxNetFlt-linux.c
and add

#include <net/gso.h>
below the line

#include <linux/inetdevice.h>
Then run

sudo /sbin/vboxconfig
and VirtualBox is back to good

VSIDO Changes / Testing a new theme here on the forum
August 18, 2023, 07:35:50 PM
I have found a dark theme I really like and may keep.. The only thing I would like to change is making the Search Element right below the Top left section into a News Element.. I'd also like to change all the Orange and Yellow shite into a blue #5E7FA2

Let me know what y'all think
