VSIDO News & Announcements / Re: The end of the VSIDO era
November 30, 2020, 06:32:42 PM
@ Vger: Sorry to see VSIDO go, a real jewel of a Sid distro and absolute favorite! The look, feel and behavior were quite unlike any other! :'(

The same sentiment as Ozi, like to see you working with Devuan!

VSIDO will be a legendary distro, no other dev came close to having such an awesome Sid build!  8)

cheers

Hello Vger and everyone! Doing a drive-by and decided to post a screenie of Crowz Fluxbox with Vsido configs! Well almost not quite for my daily driver! Running Devuan Ceres (unstable), been on my machine a long while, from ascii to beowulf and ceres over the last 6 months and not even a hiccup! :)

No wallpaper, just my old zephyr alchemy symbol for "air"!

Greetings PackRat: Thank you, been doing great and winter is my favorite time of year. Don't recieve the cold blast quite as severe as the folks in the north but can stay below freezing for extended periods and winds quite brutal at times. Being retired, pick and chose when to got out, going to bed and getting up when I want has ruined me!   :-[

VSIDO is my only favorite Debian now, ventured into using VOID and very impressed with it! Devuan has been a really good choice for me!  :P

Take care out in the weather!

cheers

Hello Vger, haven't been on FB since yesterday but happy you posted here! (come by every day) :D
Know how things can be with priorities, certainly, hope you do well and get a break to rest. Have stepped away from things I have enjoyed in the past to simply put priorities and family in a true perspective. When I do get back to other things I enjoy is just more appreciated!  :)

Things at Devuan has been great, growing pains are expected and not critical of the dev's/VUA's! But it is much like working and using Debian Wheezy. Right now using Devuan CROWZ 4.19 Beowulf/Ceres and everything simply just works nicely including slim as display manager.

If you ever think moving over you can be assured will be happy to assist you in any form, know Ozi would do the same! :)

Take care and avoid the nasty weather, not sure what state you reside but it's gonna be nasty up north!  :(

...and hello to all the folks in the VSIDO forum!  8)

cheers

Thanks for committing yourself to creating and maintaining such an awesome distro. Mean that sincerely!

Stayed up all night playing and configuring VSIDO, enjoyed having a fresh install. Being retired and Friday comes along with that a weekend should not mean that much but it still does! ???

Yea, visit here at least once a day to view who's posted and what's up. Do a drive-by post occasionally, and comb the archives for answers!  ;D

Thanks again!

August 18, 2017, 12:27:15 PM
Greetings Vger! Everybody!

Exceptional build, very smooth install to metal with zero issues.  8)

Reboot to login very fast, like a bat out of hell!
Using Connman for network manager, works quite well.

Only suggestion would be the ability to edit or update particular info. Selected 02 for manual manage selection 02, then again 02 view passwds from database. Changing or updating data would enhance security.
PMPM - Making Password Management Easy & Secure

01 Manage Passwords Automagically
02 Manage Passwords Manually
03 Manage ATM (Debit) Card PIN
04 Generate A Random Password
05 Check Password Quality
06 PMPM Help
07 Quit PMPM

Enter your choice:

Please Select Your Desired Action:

01 Add Password To The Database
02 View Passwords From Database
03 Go To Main Menu

Enter Your Choice:

Suggest adding the ability to update / edit existing security question or delete existing information.

Have always been leery of single point exploitation of a secure password manager, on the other hand could be quite helpful in particular circumstances.

Hope you find this feedback useful, helpful. Thanks for offering a possible solution for storing passwd data!

VSIDO Discussions / Re: VSIDO Build 2017

Decided to do a fresh install to metal with the 25May2017 build. Very fast, smooth install.

Wicd has been a pain for many distros so used Ceni without any issues at all.

Would like to comment constructively about the "dual" audio icon for VSIDO volume, reducing the tint2rc panel size from 35 to 32 then to 30 did the trick.  Now have a single icon!

Really very good looking build!
