Media Room / GMB Playlists

I have a 13000 song library
Ideally I would like to generate ten 1300 random song playlists
I'm listening to Hometown>Wishbone Ash>There's The Rub
225/13692 a random list of all :D

I'm looking for discussion about how to on a VSido build
Vastone helped me understand some things a few years ago on ubun, I followed along a bit over the years, until I had the time, equipment & inclination to try VS in a meaningful way
I like the community I understand VO's mindset somewhat & support FOSS...

my present roadblock is

General Support / Ideal Build
February 15, 2014, 07:18:21 PM
I'm just trying to figure out what makes sense
I finally have a pc with enough power to run virtualbox, & it is in a place where I will spend time futzing around

I use clementine & digikam
I use virtual desktops
a few different browsers, chrome, chromium, the 3rd can be midori, opera, not sure what else would do
any sort of word processor that will output doc format
preferably I can update instead of starting from scratch with new releases
none of that is hard

I'm using KDE, but xcfe is ok
I really want a sidebar on the right, with notifications & launchers/menu

I don't really understand QT vs GTK, seems like it would be good to stick with one or the other?
I guess what I'm after is stripped down KDE, just because of Digikam...
maybe build on a stick & install the finished version after spending some time testing

I can devote an hour or so per day towards my VS education

Virtual build stuck during install

mageia 4 [rpm based] 64bit
virtualbox ver 4.3.6 from repo
Vsido from torrent
I can complete install, but nothing happens after reboot except prompt on a terminal
I've tried trying to get the bootorder changed...
the MBR is on virtual root
there's some easy thing I'm missing

Digikam is resource intensive
runnin in 16 bit is a pretty good system test
what would a minimal qt based system be?

where'd it go?
just got a machine that has enough power to play around with virtual box

I'm using Mageia4, KDE off a minimal install
the real attraction is Digikam which is a kde thing dependency wise

Vastone came to mind when I saw this

is it like a python security plugin/module?

VSIDO Installation Help / 32 bit install
July 07, 2013, 03:33:03 AM
HP dc5000 sff 2.4ghz, 2g ram

I did an install, which was reasonable & does work some what
the hdd had Mageia3 on it so I went along the path of least resistance on the partition section
I ended up with a dual boot when I was trying for use the entire hdd for vsido.
what should I be doing?

I installed xfce, which is unresponsive after changing a right click setting for desktop, no way to go back unless there is a keyboard shortcut?

thanks to hinto
for the explanation of independent as it relates to a Linux Distro

I'm in process of installing Linux Mint Debian Edition on my 32 bit machines

I'm waiting for an adapter that will let me use SD flash cards, instead of a hdd, which should be a reasonable solution, to the biggest failure of this particular notebook, overheated hdd...

@Garthhh,
It's an independent distro.
-Hinto

I guess you need to define independent Distros for me
Linux kernal is independent
Red Hat & Debian dependent on development of the kernal
VSIDO < Debian < Linux kernal

That the fine folks at Pclos are hypersensitive about the behind the scenes stuff, reveals what I would consider a pretty big deficiency

VastOne is a benevolent dictator/ringmaster, that would answer any question I might have, about anything[really anything] :D

I like the  project & community
No 32 bit kills it for me
The search continues
Pretty sure I'm gonna get thrown off Pclos for asking about the parentage of the code.  ;D

Fixed the other myself.  ;D
