ha! cheesing it! sneaking in the start of this month's screenshots thread before vasty gets a chance. ;)
double cheesing it, because this scrot isnt actually of vsido (but dont worry, it all looks just the same on my vsido box... er or at least will, once i copy over my latest emacs tweaks).
(http://ks392457.kimsufi.com/stuff/scrots/2013-07-30-xmonademacsuzblvlcjulyscrotvsido-preview.png)running xmonad, with digit's tabular boonad config (now with "nice minimal" dropped from the name as i slowly bloat it up and muck it up testing other things), emacs with erc for irc and nicer new pals highlighting (which was such a drastic boon over what it previously looked like, just from the one colour change) and some uzbl-browser instances laying around. the tabs along the top of that one window, that's xmonad doing that, not uzbl-tabbed, so i can have anything in those tabs. even vlc, which is sitting looking pretty there. got one of the uzbl toggled to default css, default according to the web designer. my default is to have them come up in my gold and brown sorta colour. easy on my dyslexic eyes. (http://ks392457.kimsufi.com/stuff/scrots/2013-07-30-xmonademacsuzblvlcjulyscrotvsido.png)
anyway, you all know the drill, share your scrots! 8)

Isn't tomorrow July 31st? A little early for August screenies isn't it? ??? :D ???
^ Not in Digit's world!

*ahem* uh, yeah. that reasons. ;) i didnt forget there was 31 days, i didnt think i was triple cheesing it... this is all intentional competence. sure. i'll agree to that. ;) [edit](and methinks some peeps are a little farther around the world... it's not that early here! :P[/edit]
lol, oh, hey, just noticed, i didnt have compton on for that scrot did i... leme just...
(http://ks392457.kimsufi.com/stuff/scrots/2013-07-31-xmonademacsuzblvlcjulyscrotvsido2-preview.png) (http://ks392457.kimsufi.com/stuff/scrots/2013-07-31-xmonademacsuzblvlcjulyscrotvsido2.png)
now one thing that has been utterly bugging the tits off me, is getting
focus-exclude to work in my compton config. see how the focussed window (bottom right, uzbl, opaque, because has focus, as shown by the orange border), is excluded... vlc's supposed to be doing that too even though it isnt focussed.
cant seem to get that syntax to effectively hook it up. i can find the edges of what it thinks is borking up "off syntax", with an error message, but still, when opperating in the confines of not getting errors, i cant
get vlc to be excluded from the unfocus transparency. tried most combinations from xprop and all that g:e: n:w: stuff, which i have no idea what it means (where's the doc???), ... but educated guessing failed... the systematic aproach may be next if no one else knows how.
shadow = false;
inactive-opacity = 0.82;
#frame-opacity = 0.7;
fading = false;
shadow-radius = 3;
#opacityy-exclude = "class_g = 'vlc'";
focus-exclude = [ "n:e:*VLC*", "g:e:xteddy" ]
that commented out line is from the only mention i could find, and it was for conky, parotted many times across the web. and the only other instances where focus-exclude comes up in config, it it was an empty list. [] what i have in my list there, is just whatever last desperate test attempts i left it as.
anyhoo. thnx. sry, how rude of me to tangent off into my woes in the middle of the month's screenshot thread. ^_^
oh, er, notice my emacs looks a little lighter... that's because it is. it has its own little extra transparency trick in there, for a dash extra alpha, keeps it pimp. ;)
and finally:
prizes* for anyone who can say the name of the car there, extra prizes* if you didnt look it up. methinks that's defo my fave of that manufacturer... and that manufacturer could well be my fave manufacturer too.

@DevilOne - one of my favorite pekwm/openbos/fluxbox themes; somewhere on a backup, I have my fvwm version of that theme. Question to pekwm users here - I have been looking, but can not find out if a pekwm theme can be created that does not require pixmaps. Is it doable? I think it is, but I have not delved too deeply into the syntax/options of pekwm themes yet.

Sure you can use RGB values, Hex # for colors, even with shadings too. DONT need to use pixmaps. Same as you can in OB/BB/FB- themes

No real changes - trying out a pager app written in python - neap; Works in the fluxbox system tray and tint2:

neap is written in python and you can use mouse buttons 1 and 3 to change desktops (http://code.google.com/p/neap/wiki/Welcome)
had to install python-xlib as dependency.
Very nice PackRat! Love that wallpaper....
Dizzie.... adequate job I suppose ;D
@ PackRat
Nice... what exactly do you use neap for? Would it be worth including in the VSIDO builds?
Pager = switch between desktops... is that it's only function?
@vastone
yes, it's just a desktop switcher that sits in the system tray. Desktop can be changed by mouse click, but IMO the app is too small for mouse clicking - and I can't get the geometry option working; switching desktops with key binding is way more efficient. Also, since tint2 can be configured to look and act like a pager, no need to use neap with tint2. And tint2 configured as a pager is much more useful in *box or fvwm. I checked out neap because of the previous discussion in the wm configuration thread.
I'm getting the feeling this was someone's exercise in learning python and was released as an open source project.
No need to include it in any releases; no value added.
If someone knows python, maybe the source could be hacked so that the pager can reside on the desktop, or in the slit/dock/harbor, and the geometry could be adjusted. Then it would be a nice alternative to older apps like fbpager.
@lwfitz - thanks

ported the xlite fluxbox theme to fvwm:
(http://t.imgbox.com/abtkWaoZ.jpg) (http://imgbox.com/abtkWaoZ)
Really good stuff PackRat... When you gonna create your own theme?
Most of my themes (fluxbox and fvwm) are my own. I'll tweak a theme every now and then - like the VSIDO theme, but I also have a template I use that has all the options. I use the Tin Black theme as a guide since it is a non-pixmap theme, but all the color scheming is my own. I can't use gimp at all so if I want some pixmaps I'll grab some from another theme. I use the buttons from the elfin theme a lot.
An fvwm theme I did from scratch -

It's a tiling window manager, been around for about a year. "Written by an arch user for other arch users" as they like to say over there. Interesting project, hope it keeps getting developed. Really need to be a script kiddie to get the most out of it, I think so I won't be messing with it too much longer. Having some issues just getting some basic configuration changes - like window border colors.
Note - if you do decide to check it out, debian systems need to use xbindkeys for hot keys, not the sxhkd program that the bspwm developer wrote, otherwise it crashes. Get the latest release from git and build from source - I had to get one dependency which was in the repos.
