Clean install Void on uEFI -

Not too bad. The installer barfed the first time around, but went to completion.

^Very nice PackRat!

So it turns out it isn't the Kernel using up the cpu, and causing temps to run high.  Tis the subwoofer.py script I'm running to get my 5.1 DynAudio sound system on the laptop working.  Totally worth it...

Had a hard time installing any distro on that T400 didn't you? Thinkpads seem to be problematic.

Surprisingly no!  I did however have to beef up my wifi skills using stuff like netctl, wpa_supplicant, and dhcpcd command line tools.  I've had less than pleasurable experiences over there at the forum, and almost equivalent when it comes to installing arch.  This time was different though for some reason.  It actually did go pretty simple.  I even put it on a partition on the newer MSI.  Was able to get wifi up with virtually no problems...

Back down to the 4.12 Kernel, which seems to run much cooler.  That is however without the subwoofer.py file running that kicks in the DynAudio subwoofer built into the bottom of the lappy. :'(

This one is a 17" so quite big and heavy.  A true beast...  :)

Nice to see you lwfitz!  8) Looking good!

Back to my goto VSIDO.  Played with Arch for a couple weeks...

Clean VSIDO, with Fluxbox of course...  mof, I don't even have another window manager installed on my goto, which never changes!  ???

Also thought I'd mention that this is my typical package count with my regular stuff installed and a good base VSIDO going.

spam the screenshot thread today - fluxbox and matching tint2 theme (tint2 theme needs monochrome icons, or maybe ACYL):

Photographing dragonflies has definitely been the meme for this summer; good year for them.

Some nice Halloween pennants out today. Also some huge red saddlebags out as well, but they wouldn't land.

hi PackRat
water in spray-bottle. spray. attracts dragonflies.  ?
some nice photographs you have done.

Dragonflies are all over the place in South Carolina; don't need to do anything special to attract them. Could use some more sophisticated equipment to photograph them though. The SCDNR has an annual photo contest that would be nice to enter.

^and now for winter...

(http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/20170827b.jpg) (http://en.zimagez.com/zimage/20170827b.php)

You know, VSIDO is actually quite beautiful considering how lite it really is.  I know, the last few months I played with everything, from Fedora to Suse to Arch.  And on and on.  Oh I was able to get all of them to my specs, but never was able to duplicate the look I can safely (at least myself) and easily have back in moments.  There's more than one beauty in that statement...
I took the 'Breeze-dark' gtk theme (the latest one that works on the still ^#(K@! new css format) and just changed the text to blue.  Even with a migraine I can tolerate this type of dark theme going.
(http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/20170827c.png) (http://en.zimagez.com/zimage/20170827c.php)

again more of the migraine free view of my desktop...

(http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/20170827f.jpg) (http://en.zimagez.com/zimage/20170827f.php)

so now back to normal and already have new .fsa's of everything!

Arclance, where ever you may be, IMO the greatest python/lua weather script ever!

(http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/20170828a.jpg) (http://en.zimagez.com/zimage/20170828a.php)

Our weather is being brutal up here to the plants and crops.  Today alone, we'll see a 40 degree F swing in temps. (check out the weather shot for today above left) I have pictures as proof of how soon our fall started this year.  The leaves were turning by Aug. 18th.  Climate change at work here big time...
