Finally, in the last couple of weeks, my MSI laptop is finally happy!  A VSIDO only lappy now.  2 scrots, the first, clean for me, the second, showing gmb.

Distro courtesy of VastOne of course!  Best of the best. (IMO)  Also a quick shoutout to Arclance who's weather script just keeps on ticking!  A nice one for watching for bad weather up here...

My oldest has Windows 10 on the laptop she uses for school work - and at the moment Youtube - it is making me suicidal as well. So annoying. You make a UEFI install on your wife's computer, or go into legacy mode?

back to topic -

spectrwm, wallpaper is an image of Angkor Wat, Cambodia (https://www.google.com/search?site=&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1594&bih=804&q=angkor+wat&oq=angkor+&gs_l=img.1.0.0l10.2087.4499.0.6239.9.7.1.1.1.0.53.335.7.7.0....0...1ac.1.64.img..0.9.339.pRT_58GmaUM) - have to put that place on the Bucket List.

No UEFI on hers!  Thank all the gods!

What are you using there for your shell?  Zsh?  What theme?

Shell is bash.

The theme is configured in the ~/.spectrwm.conf file. All I did was increase the border width (3 px I think, on the laptop right now) and decrease the contrast so the active window has a different look -

(https://cdn.scrot.moe/images/2016/11/06/scrot-shot-November_6_1478467806.th.png) (https://scrot.moe/image/584n)

for the gtk apps, I'm using one of the Xfce themes included with the Xfce spin of Void - there are some nice ones in there that don't get borked by gtk-3.

QuoteDistro courtesy of VastOne of course!  Best of the best. (IMO)

I hear ya; loving Void, but missing VSIDO - I'm going to have to set up a dual boot or VM.

And fluxbox still the go-to wm:

Getting cold up there.
You even bother to put the snow shovel away? We never really did when I was living in Duluth, MN.

And for those that remember BeOS - an excellent OS that just didn't get any traction:

(http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/screenshot1b7b13b9476808b5f932662adbfe22592.jpg) (http://en.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot1b7b13b9476808b5f932662adbfe22592.php)

nightly build of Haiku - they provide an anyboot image that can be installed to a USB flash drive. Fun to mess around with. Seems a bit buggy, but it is running from a USB.

alpha-02 - not too bad, forgot some packages, can dump some others:

Well, it hangs on the garage wall all year!  This is the first year I haven't stored the snowblower though.  As to it getting cold up here, we have been really, really, really lucky so far.  No snow, and it hasn't dipped below 20F yet!  It is currently around 55F out right now, which is unheard of.  I'll mark it down to Global Warming! :)

^^ I do it often for fun in VMs. Maybe some day I go metal and finally switch to Void. What still keeps me in Debian is mostly that. Void is very barebones. We take many things for granted in Debian and many other distros defaults or base systems. In Void you need to figure out what's missing all the time. I guess it's question of repeat and rinse to get used to it.

So true. Got the installer working (I think), may take it to completion later tonight or tomorrow.

Xmonad with the ewmh and minimize hooks loaded, xfce4-panel, and conky with own_window_type set to panel. Make Xmonad behave a bit more like a stacking window manager and get some more functionality out of xfce4-panel:

I think ^that^ is probably some of what causes migraines!  Watching Dana Carvey on Netflix on VSIDO!

It's the Haskell that causes the migraines - as a side effect my kids are becoming well versed in four letter words.

Rough day boarding is better than an easy day watching TV -

defintiely prefers 4 wheels to 2 - she's going to want a 4x4 for birthday #18.
